Shot In The Dark Diabetes Facts
Questions and Answers
Constantly fatigued and miserable. Need help please!? Hi, My name is Matt and I apologize in advance for the long question. I've been having a chronic health problem for the past year and half now, and I'm not much closer to solving the problem of why I feel so awful than I was at the start. Different doctors will tell me I have things that other doctors say there is no way I have. Others tend to throw antibiotics at me, push me out of the office, and hope the problem magically disappears. My faith in health care professionals is ebbing away more and more everyday.
Anyways, here are my regular symptoms:
Loss of focus/concentration, extreme fatigue, constantly hungry, feeling very faint and weak kneed, stiff joints and muscles, stuffy nose, sore/tight throat, chest pain/tightness right along my sternum, and heavy breathing.
For the past year and a half, I've exhibited these symptoms on and off. I have good days and bad days, but especially lately, much more so bad.
I've been diagnosed with a severe dust mite allergy, pumped full of medications, continued to get sick, and later found I had no allergy to dust mites according to another doctor and another test. The new doctor diagnosed me with chronic sinusitis. I've tried corticosteroids, antihistamines, nasal rinses, vitamins, and all sorts of things. The only thing that gives me any real relief is the sinus rinse, and that relief is pretty fleeting. Now I'm being told that I have allergies again, despite the fact that no allergy medication has done me any good, and the skin tests say I'm not allergic to anything.
I've also recently had some new symptoms, on top of the old ones being more severe than usual (especially the fatigue, hunger, and faint feeling). They are: constantly thirsty, nausea, frequent urination (happens a lot, regardless of how much water I drink, always comes out crystal clear, and I can't seem to hold it at all), about 10 pounds of weight loss 2 weeks ago, and now, very little weight gain, despite eating like crazy.
I've had a complete blood count recently. It showed my glucose as normal, so diabetes is not the problem. Kidney and liver functions were also normal. My lymphocyte level came in a little high at 47 (12-44 is normal), absolute neutrophils came in a little low at 1.67 (normal is 1.8-7.7). It looks like I have a slight anemia, because my hemoglobin came in at 13.2 (normal: 14-18) and my hematocrit came in at 38 (normal: 42-54). I've started taking a multivitamin, and eating more red meat in case of iron deficiency.
Yet, I find it hard to believe that anemia is to blame for all of my new/worsening of symptoms, and more importantly, I've had numerous blood tests over the past year and a half, and never came up as anemic, so even if it is the complete cause for my new and worsened symptoms, it still doesn't explain my regular fatigue and general feeling like garbage for over a year.
As for my habits, I generally eat a very healthy diet, and also exercise frequently. I'm in pretty good shape, and am in the right weight range for my height (6 feet tall, 170 lbs). Also, I'm only 20 years old, so I feel like I shouldn't be getting winded by taking the stairs, or needing a nap after 2 hours of work. The only hospitilizations I've had are for a concussion at age 16 sustained while playing rugby (very light concussion, blacked out for 10 seconds, can't remember some of that day, but I was fine after a few hours), and a surgery to take out my tonsils and open up my sinuses (which did seem to help my breathing a bit, but didn't stop the sickness from coming over and over and over).
As for medications, I've been on pretty much every allergy medication around, and none of them stop me from getting sick. Plus, most of them leave me in an even worse brain fog than when I'm just feeling sick. I've also been pumped full of more antibiotics than I can count. At this point, I'm quite adverse to taking more medications, considering that none has helped me thus far, and they always, always come with side effects.
I really just want to know whats wrong with me, whatever it is, so that I can get about fixing it. It's a number one priority for me, because it just makes everything in my life so much more difficult. Even the simplest classes and tasks and work become grueling when I'm feeling like this, and I'd say I feel like this about 85-95% of the time, especially as of late. My problem is, I'm at the end of my rope. My doctor's can't give me any good ideas or directions to take, they just tell me the other one is an idiot and that I need to just keep putting money in their pocket. I've tried so many options and been tested for so many things, and I can't seem to get a truly conclusive answer. I'm ready to try just about anything. In fact, I'm getting ready to make an acupuncture appointment, and maybe start taking some herbs. I mean, it may be a shot in the dark, but at least I'm taking a shot.
Anyways, if you've made it this far, I appreciate you taking the time to read

Do you like my poem? It's for Scooby♥ when he, moves on.? Scooby♥ is my Aunt and Uncle's cat. And he has diabetes and bone cancer, they said that he has been sleeping more and more, han't been eating much, and has been sleeping in the room that i sleep in when i visit.
Scooby
Scooby, your vibrant green eyes are the light at the end of dark black hallway.
Your fur is the blackness that demolishes the bad and evil.
Your white paws attacking moths and string.
You make making the bed fun, with your little game.
You sitting at the window letting the light make your midnight fur shimmer.
After giving a small massage your white sparkling teeth crush the bacon.
Sitting at the door you little meows tell us you want to sit outside under the small deck tent with us.
Every day you are given a small shot for your diabetes and a pill for your bone cancer, but you are tough and you sit there like nothing is happening.
Your small rough pink tongue laps the water into you mouth and tastes the food you love to eat.
You are as silent as a mouse sneaking around to see what’s happening, but you small little bell on your blue collar lets us know where you are.
You make us all laugh as you snooze in the warm dryer.
But now you sleep more and more, you become anti-social hanging around in the upstairs room, rather than spending you time with your beloved owners, and you stop bugging Fink, your household feline friend. You eat less and less, Scooby, what is happening to you?
Scooby, you are an inspiration to us all, we will miss you when you leave.

I had a dream that I was trick-or-treating; can someone interpret? I went to dreammoods and look to see what it means. Don't give me answers saying go to that website or anything from dreammoods or from any other online dream dictionaries.
You know, dreams have meaning to them. Every a person has a dream that can tell that person something. I don't want answers saying, it was just a dream, that dreams don't mean anything, you should of not ate that before you went to bed, or you watch too much TV. Plus, don't use any bible verses or links to bible verses, because they cannot interpret dreams. I want your own interpretation and I only want serious answers please.
I was in first-person view in this dream. The dream was about me trick-or-treating and the way I knocked on doors was by a lolly pop cover in white paper. After coming from two houses, I knocked on the door the same way like the previous two and an old white woman answer the door. Plus, there were two twin White children with brown hair also trick-or-treating at the house. I ate the lolly-pop and the woman had a thermometer and ask me do I want a shot for check diabetes and I replied back no. And now, on the ground I saw a toy box with my old toys and a package with something in it for me. The object that was in the package was a Gundam model kit. It was a model kit of the mobile suit Gundam Epyon (a dark shade of red-violet) from the anime Gundam Wing. The two twin children left the front door and I was leaving with them when I realized I forgot about something. I realized I forgot the rest of the pieces of the model kit and the dream ended when I was collecting the rest of the pieces of the model kit.
JUST ME replied: "First let me tell you i have been studying dreams for about a year now. How old are you? Do you remember ever going trick-or-treating and this happening to you? This could be your mind reliving your younger days. I just need more Info from you. are you willing to give me some infomation. like your age. how old were you in the dream? Do you remember seeing the lady before the dream? What brought this dream on now do you have kid that you are taking trick-or treating or are you going trick-or treating. these are thing i need to know to help me under stand why you had the dream and what brought the dream on and if it is just a old memory coming up to the suface and you dreamed it."
Robin replied: "I do not know how old you are, but you are definitely revisiting your childhood in this dream. In it you have the feeling of having left things undone. You wish you could play it over again, yet there is the same sense that even if you could you would be just as lost to the purpose of your life as you were when you lived it through the first time around. I don't know what that Gundam thing is but you value it and are willing to focus on the details of it, as if you want to "model" part of your life on it.
I started to pass this question by when reading through your rant on what you did not want to hear but what it started to tell me was that you feel there is something important in this dream. To that end I treated it seriously, yet the context of your life and values holds the particulars of application. BTW, the Bible has several important dream interpretations, yet I don't see any of them in direct application here, but if I did I would have included them whether you liked it or not, so you might take it down a notch or you may miss something good sometime."

Signs of a Stroke? or TIA/Mini stroke? Just s shot in the dark...about a yr ago I had this scary sensation. I went to Walmart and after getting my cart, for about 3 seconds I had NO idea how I got there and why I was there. Like I fell asleep and woke up in Walmart. I am 46, 5 foot 7 inches tall, 50 lbs overweight. Both parents have had heart attacks in their 60s. (Dad died 4 yrs ago after lung cancer.) I do not have high BP, no diabetes for me (dad did, but controlled with meds), cholesterol is about 180. I asked my Dr about it. He didn't seem concerned. Didn't request any testing for it. Now, a few times since, i feel "off balance", like the room is slanted and I can't, for the life of me, right myself for a good several seconds! It's annoying. Could this be a TIA/ Mini stroke? Anyone ever have this? This is a serious question, but cannot get any real answers from my Dr that probably thinks I am just being weird. Thanks...
Its Me replied: "Could be. Get a different doctor, this one obviously doesn't give a flying **** about you."
Squirt replied: "I would get a second opinion. There are many things that can cause these symptoms, so I would speak to another doctor. The most common side effects of strokes or TIA's are slurred speech, facial drooping, headache, difficulty speaking or swallowing. It is really hard to say it could be anything from an ear infection to exhaustion. Many things can cause the symptoms you have mentioned. Definitely get a second opinion."
char819 replied: "How are your sinuses? I had the room go out on me for a second once and then another time it looked like the gravel I was standing on was moving back and forth in front of me. Turned out I had a sinus infection deep in my head that caused it."
30 weeks pregnant and on Insulin....? Sorry this is disgusting but I'm a little concerned about the colour of my poo! I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have developed gestational diabetes - I am injecting insulin 4 times a day and my poo is a really dark green colour? Is this due to being pregnant or taking insulin - or both? I know its a long shot but has anyone else experienced this? Sorry for the vulgar topic!!!
Gary B replied: "I've been on insulin for years, and never had green poo! The again, I'm male and well past child-bearing years . . ..
I think it is because you are pregnant, and possibly becasue of your diet.
You should bring this matter up to your doctor.
EDIT:
Second thought:
Are you taking iron, or any other kind of supplements (pre-natal vitamins)? Could be because of these, too."
Jerry T replied: "Both insulin injection and your pregnancy has contributed to those colour. In gestational diabetes you only have to take insulin for 10 more weeks the you can stop it. So that this colour may disappear after that .Dont worry about it now.Gestational DM, which is diagnosed during pregnancy, occurs in approximately 4% of pregnant women and usually presents in the second or third trimester when insulin resistance normally occurs. It is associated with increased fetal morbidity and mortality. Glucose tolerance usually returns to normal after delivery, but 30-40% of women with gestational DM develop type 2 DM within 10 years. Diabetes can develop temporarily when hormones secreted during pregnancy increase your body’s resistance to insulin. This happens in about 2 percent to 5 percent of pregnant women.Read more on pregnancy and its problems from the following site.

emajeb replied: "Do you regularly drink purple colored juices/drinks? I remember when my son was small, this happened to him everyt time we gave him grape juice!"
Cammie replied: "Your pregnancy vitamins contain a lot of iron. That is what causes this color.
Or a lot of iron filled spinach or other greens.
Talk to your doctor."
I think im dehydrated? For months now, I have barely drinken anything all day. Then I started to drink a bottle of water a day (thats all i drink all day) and now i have the urge / feeling to pee very often, but never one long shot (like im not peeing the whole bottle out in one time). I've measured it and I never pee more than an ounce or two at one time. My pee is very dark yellow at sometimes and a little lighter at others. Because of all the water not expelling from my system / body at one time I get very bloated and therefor do not drink any more. It's now to the point where I drink like two ounces then wait a half an hour, pee, and restart the cycle in order to clear my system. Is this normal? I want to be able to drink a whole bottle of water and within 45 minutes - an hour pee the whole thing out in one long shot and therefor not retain any liquids. I do not have diabetes or anything else. Ive been checked / tested and am perfectly healthy. Thanks.

Matt S replied: "if your pee isnt almost clear (with exception of taking supplement with low absorption rate around below 5 %) then you are dehydrated. To get back to normal just sit down and chug a bottle of water. Then force your self to sip a bottle of water finishing it in half an hour. Just keep drinking water, if you have too much you will have to pee about every ten minutes but you will be back to normal in about an hour afterwards."
fearthelightitburns replied: "Yes, you are probably dehydrated. One bottle of water a day is probably not enough (I go through several and still am not always fully hydrated). The dark yellow urine is your body's way of telling you that yes, you are dehydrated, and should drink more water! The lighter, the better. How big is your water bottle? If it's not that much, your body might be holding on to the fluid because that's all it is getting, and that's why you only expel a little at a time. Try drinking more - sometimes a system needs to be pushed further than equilibrium to display a reaction. You may also want to be checked for a urinary tract infection or something putting pressure on your urinary system."
Is this PCOS??? I don't want to sound like i'm paranoid, but I just started reading about pcos and am now scared. Some of the problems over the years have been going without my period from 4 months to 8 months, I also have dark patches of skin, on my arms, my breast, and my stomach, and my legs. There is a history of cysts, infertility, diabetes, and high blood pressure in my family. I have a lot of hair, but I also have dark hair so it might be just that it is more noticable. I have problems with dry skin and dandruff. I'm not over weight but am bigger than I usually am. I have skin tags in my armpits, and i also have extremely painful periods. Like shot in the butt painfull. I realize Y!A isn't a doctor but I have been on bc for 6 years without the doctors doing any sort of tests to find out what is wrong with me cuz "it will get better" and it hasn't. My Fiance and I are looking to have kids in the next year or so and am wondering what could be wrong with my periods...
I didn't say we are having kids now, we are engaged, will be getting married soon and are planning to have or start trying 6 months to a year from when we get married. Thank you, we do have our life in order. I am looking for advice on possible conditions not the order of operations.
Cinnamon replied: "You need a complete checkup. You need to get married, settle in to the married life then get pregnant."
Dolyn replied: "You sound just like me. It could indeed be PCOS. My doctors didn't want to test me for anything either. They just throw you on BC to fix the period problems, and never look into the cause. If you can, go to or get a referral to an Endocrinologist. They'll do hormone tests and an ultrasound to check out your ovaries and they can diagnose you. It's a shame that a woman in this country can't get the proper medical care she needs unless she is trying to have a baby.
Don't be too distraught if you do have PCOS. It might make getting pregnant a little more difficult, but not impossible. The usual medication they put you on is Metformin, which helps with your hormones and ovulation. I now have a period every 40 to 50 days or so. You may not ovulate on a schedule, or every month, but you will. Just insist on the testing. Don't take no for an answer. Good luck."
Rocker Wife replied: "Hi Sweetie,
Well, it sounds like you could use to have a consultation. If for no other reason that you skip your periods for so long. What you're describing may or may not be PCOS, but I wouldn't focus on that so much. The main thing is that if you plan on getting pregnant in the next year, you have to address your irregular periods. Getting pregnant when you menstruate 2 or 3 times a year is almost impossible. So even though you're looking at pregnancy next year, you're smart to start addressing your fertility now.
It's time to take charge of this. Go to a reproductive endocrinologist (don't waste time with a GYN or regular doctor...they may or may not have the skills to do what you need done, or they may give you some generic answer that doesn't apply to you). A reproductive endocrinologist (RE) is highly trained in this area and will most certainly run all the tests needed to make the right diagnosis. He/she will also know EXACTLY how to treat whatever the problem is. IF you do have PCOS, that's a complicated condition so you should start out of the gate with an expert who knows how to treat it.
You could also just have a thyroid imbalance, in which, once your thyroid is treated and returns to normal, your fertility is restored. It could be that simple. So please don't worry yourself about the worst things it could be. And by the way, women with PCOS do have babies...they just usually (but not always) need some help getting there.
Good luck."
drruth replied: "My doctor told me that you should never go more than 3 months without a period. If you aren't getting your period every month, go to the doctor. Tell him/her all of your symptoms and ask him to do a bloodtest. That is how they can determine if you have PCOS. I have PCOS and my symptoms are skin tags, dark hair on my upper thighs, acne on my back and chest, no periods, and thin hair on the crown of my head. One piece of advice for you...you are your only advocate. Don't let the doctor tell you "there is nothing wrong with you" if you aren't getting periods or "you can't get prego with PCOS." Niether of them are true! If he won't do a blood test on you, go to another doctor. After I started taking Metformin(my doctor gave it to me when he got the results of my bloodwork) it took me a month and a half to get pregnant. Good luck to you and keep pushing until you get an answer."
Jessy replied: "You need to go see reproductive endocrinologist. They will be able to help you find out if you have PCOS and also will be able to help you get pregnant when you are ready to."
Holiday Honey replied: "Funny thing is that you and I are in the same boat. I too was not a fan of going to the doctor either and I too highly believed that "It will get better"....Believe me when I say that when I was first told that I had PCOS I too was scared and nervous and depressed. But I think it was because the more I read the more I realized that mostly every symptom that can possibly be associated with PCOS. I am currently on Gonal F- Which is an injectionable medication along with Metformin. I was previously on Provera (To start my periods), Clomid to help me ovulate and Metformin ect...I guess it will be all worth it once I take that first look into my babys eyes. Honestly, what you need is #1- a supportive partner. #2- Patience. #3- Just know that it will all be worth it in the end. I wish you the very, very best. Oh yeah I have been on medication for way over a year now and yeah it gets disapointing month after month....But I am still holding on. You might have to go and see a specialist so that you can be placed on the proper medication.
Don't worry things will work out for you....
Best of Luck to you and your Fiance and all your future babies :-)"
strange period continues.. can anyone help with this? my period was due 21-22. no period. yesterday the 30th i got dark brown spotting for 2 hours with horrible cramps and a fever for 2 hours. then it stopped completely. no bleeding, no problems. fine all night. 12:00 today another round. bad cramps, fever, and spotting dark brown and what looks like brownish colored discharge all day. so light that all i need is panty liners. i know its alot of information, but its freakin me out.
i have taken several pregnancy tests. all neg. I took one today and it was neg. With it being new years eve and all i wanted to be sure before i had a couple drinks. Im young, 24. Ive been with the same partner for 9 years. only health problem is diabetes. i want to get pregnant and i have been trying for a year now. i finally got my first period after 8 years this past august. i was on the depo shot for 8 years and stopped the injections a year ago. i know and understand that it will take a long long time to get the shot out of my system. my past couple periods were on time and normal bleeding and no problems. why am i having problems now?
♥TTC #1♥ replied: "im sure its a hormonal change going on. i had similar issues with depo years ago. my best advice is to go to a dr. and see if its something other than hormonal, just to rule out a poss pregnancy. then if you arent preggers your dr will prob give you meds to bring on a period. i took aygestin for 5 days, twice a day, and my period came 2 days after finishing the meds. good luck and baby dust to ya!"
#1 Mom replied: "That sounds like 1 of 2 things.
1. It's a hormone surge, possibly caused by lack of ovulation because of being on the Depo shot.
2. You could of had a miscarriage without ever even realizing you were pregnant. This sounds very much like when I had my miscarriage last year."
TTC #1 Hoping for girl 2009! replied: "Didn't your Dr tell you that it will take 2 years to get rid of the depo on your system? That's what my Doc told me. When I told him I am ready to get pregnant and he said stop now and give your self 2 years. I was on depo for 9 months only. It has been 4 years since my last shot and I am having trouble getting pregnant. The spotting brown is normal for being you just stop the depo. when I stop mine I was spotting for 3 months. Not bleed but spot dark brown for 3 months. It messed my regular up. Anyways hopes this gives you a hint."
munusamy h replied: "Well a lot of health problems occurs due to certain deficiency in body and basicaly related with cells, I would sugested you drink the mangoesteen juice. For more informaton of the juice you can visit my website at, "
