can i take aleve during the first few months of pregnancy? I was told by my doctor to take aleve every 2-4 hours or muscle pain, but i am 2 months pregnant.

Preggos with #1 (9wks) replied: "No... Does your dr know you are Pregnant? You can take tylanol. Sorry can't spell today."

Jenny replied: "NO! Tylenol is safe, but my doctor told me to try not to take ANYTHING in the first 12 weeks. I had a high fever for about a week, and he ok'd tylenol for that to keep the fever down. Aside from that, I preferred to just deal with headaches and muscle aches...they get worse as pregnancy goes on anyway :)"

ready to meet my gummy bear 3/23 replied: "nope, only Tylenol. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR, PICK UP A BOOK AND GET EDUCATED! WHY R U ASKING QUESTIONS ON HERE AND NOT TALKING TO YOUR DOCTOR? hmm....better be nice to other askers shouldnt you?? please respect others! you didnt like that answer did you?"

Is it normal to have migraines while being pregnant? The last 5 days ive had the worse headaches and nothing seemed to be working. I was taking aleve till i found out thats not good for the baby. is there any okay medicine to take during pregnancy?

~ Turn N' Burn ~ replied: "Yes migraines are normal when pregnant. I had them when I was 5-7 months pregnant. Nothing worked the only thing that is safe for baby is Tylenol. And that never worked for me! So I just beared with it. I had them so bad I would throw up from the pain."

Pregnant with baby #3 replied: "Some woman get alot of migraines during pregnancy and some don't.. I used to get alot but know i don't and my nurse told me to take the regular tylenol but just 1 a day and it seemed to work."

MeL replied: "i never had migraines till i became pregnant for the second time. i have been also having regular auras without the actual migraine. its very scary ~MeL~"

[[35 weeks with a baby girl]] replied: "Headaches are considered normal, but that is only referring to headaches that go away with normal amounts of pain medication. Recurring migranes warrant a call to your doctor, especially since nothing is helping. It could be a sign of blood pressure problems, or there's even a possibility that it's nothing, but your doctor will want to check you out to be sure."

Due Oct. 5th with Isabel!! replied: "it's safe to take Tylenol (regular strength) however, you should tell your doctor about this..."

megan m replied: "My friend suffered with migraines since she was a teen. When she became pregnant the first two trimesters were like a constant migraine, almost completely disabling her. She was prescribed tylenol with codeine, but she said it barely helped. When she wasn't pregnant she preferred imitrex and excedrin migraine formula, both which can't take when pregnant. The codeine though doesn't harm the baby as long as you don't get addicted, because the baby will be born addicted."

Gracie1004 replied: "I suffered from migraines prior to getting pregnant and i still have them equally if not more frequently. The doctor can prescribe something safe for you and the baby i believe. But other than that nothing really."

Stina replied: "first it depends on which trimester your in. In the first trimester headaches are common because of all the estrogen streaming through your body. You can take tylenol (acetaminophen) or aspirin free anacin. If your pain is in your face or under your eyes, try taking Benedryl or seeing your doctor to rule out sinus infections (which are common in first trimester). some women also find that acupuncture or a cold/hot compress on the hurting area helps. If your migraine, aversion to light, throbbing in back of neck/top of head, nausea, vomiting doesn't go away in 72 hours with home treatment call your doctor. If it is later in your second trimester or into your third, do not take tylenol. go see your doctor to rule out a more serious condition. especially if it is accompanied by rapid weight gain, numbness of your limbs, blurred vision, very swollen hands and feet (fluid build up). See the article link below to get some ideas of what to take."

hellokitty replied: "yeah! last week i ended up in hospital because i had one constantly for 2 weeks that was so unbearable i didnt know what else to do with myself. The ONLY things for migraines you can take whne pregnant s regular paracetamol (which dont even touch a migrain) or codine, if codine doesnt work go to docs and ask for dehydracodine, thats the strongest thing you can take AND you cant take it with paracetmols. good luck"

Aleve pill and pregnancy? Im ALLLLL out of tynol and i dont feel like driveing 30 min there and 30 min back for just a thing of tynol, so will Aleve work? because i know during pregnancy ur not suppose to take ibprofin, or maybe it was asprin....

Sarah S replied: "Tylonl is the only safe thing to take durring pregnancy anything else and you should consult your dr."

? replied: "No not safe at all. make the drive sorry"

Ethel replied: "You may not take Aleve for the same reason you should not have ibuprofen, it could compromise how well your blood clots. Drive the 30 minutes or do without. Caffeine sometimes works for pain too though."

LeighAnn replied: "I wouldn't take Aleve during pregnancy if I had another option. I will tell you though, I took a very HEAVY amount of Aleve due to a broken arm in a car accident. I was 4 weeks preggo at the time and didn't know it. My sweet girl was born with hydronephrosis of her kidneys, severe allergies and reflux. I have no idea what caused it all.. but I wouldn't take meds that aren't "safe" for pregnancy. Aleve is considered unsafe for pregnancy."

April replied: "No, don't take that Aleve!!!!"

Not a pregnancy question, but not getting much help in women's health...thought y'all might have ideas.? I started getting some tiny cramps during the day yesterday so I took Aleve and extra strength Tylenol and felt better. Then in the middle of the night last night I started experiencing the worst menstrual cramps ever...took me forever to fall asleep. A few hours later I woke up to even worse cramps...I've taken more Aleve, took a hot bath, and have a heating pad on my tummy, etc. and nothing is helping...I still want to cry. What else can I do to feel better? Also, I'm kind of nauseous and don't want to eat but I need to because I get really sick if I don't....what would be easiest on my stomach--my choices are limited--I have Cup o'Soup, lunch meat, and cereal (don't judge, I'm a college kid, lol). If it makes any difference...I'm 21 and have had my period since I was 12...normally have fairly bad cramps, but not this bad...but my period was a little bit late because of stress. sorry my question got messed up...for some reason my computer repeated the first part...

Samantha W replied: "so what are you asking?"

Lets Go Ravens...Lets Go!!! replied: "You need to call your OB doc..this could be a number of things from period cramps to a cyst on ur ovaries.... Go call them before the holiday and try to get in... Dont freak out just call them...."

clb_tucker replied: "Your symptoms almost sound like rupturing ovarian cysts. You should probably contact your gynecologist."

Kate S replied: "sip on hot tea. eat dry toast or crackers or apple sauce. drink plenty of water to "wash yourself out". If it continues to get worse, see a doctor. ~_~"

Elizabeth replied: "You could be nauseous from taking both Alieve and Tylenol... stick to just one. Soup will help but a sandwich will keep you full for longer and you won't get the menstrual munchies. I have some periods where I just have terrible cramps. It's really weird but I find car rides help... don't know if it will work but you might try! Also drink lots of water... this will always help cramping."

Doula Amanda replied: "sounds to me like you are going through the rupture of the natural cyst that develops on the ovaries before ovulation occurs. the rupture is the release of the egg.... sometimes the cysts can become inflamed and cause pain. I would go se your OB/GYN and make sure it isn't something more serious though because you should never self diagnose yourself over the internet. It is ok to look up your symptoms and look at possibilities and present your research to your dr. G/L and happy new year!!!"

Alternatives to Ibuprofen while TTC? I have rotator cuff tendonitis and the only thing that seems to help is ibuprofen. I've taken tylenol, aleve, muscle relaxers, etc. I know that ibuprofen is a no-no during pregnancy. My husband and I are TTC our first baby this month and of course, my shoulder is absolutely killing me. I've been taking ibuprofen the last few days to try and calm the inflammation down. I should ovulate this week. Should I stop taking the ibuprofen? Can you suggest any alternatives that are safe? I've done physical therapy, heat, ice, icy hot, etc. Sorry...reposting since I don't see the original post in questions.

Typhani replied: "Some say you can take baby aspirin because it helps with blood flow. But your best bet is just to stick with tylenol Its suppose to be the best thing while pregnant .At lease that's what im doing.I 've got a killer toothache ."

Ibuprofen while TTC? Have rotator cuff tendonitis? I apologize for posting this again, but I cannot see it in the questions... _________________________________________ I have rotator cuff tendonitis and the only thing that seems to help is ibuprofen. Kelly M replied: "Yes defintley stop the ibuprofen. Have you tried Acupuncture. It's worked wonders for me. I have 7 herniated discs and the pain has been lessened 10 fold."

starcatcher3355 replied: "It's best only to take Tylenol. Ibuprofen is an anit-inflammatory drug and they believinterferesrfers with the swelling process that causes the egg to rupture from follicular sac. So by taking it, you may be reducing you chances of releasing an egg. This can increase your risk to developing a functional cyst. You can't take it during pregnancy due to harm of the baby so you need to find another way to cope with the pain if Tylenol doesn't work. I heardacupuncturee works great. Another option is to talk to you doctor to see if any prescription medicine is safe for you to take. Good luck."

KaDee E replied: "ummm lets see...if you have been taking muscle relaxers while you are TTC than I think ibuprofen but for sure when you are pregnant do not take it, but it you want to be safe take tylenol and try to deal with the pain. But it you really need some meds for this than consult with your ob/gyn. Good luck!!"

Am I over-paying attention or under-paying attention? I am so scared.? My fiancee and I have more good reasons to conceive as soon as possible than I thought were possible. I found out last July I was seven weeks pregnant. I had tested at six weeks and the test said negative. Long, painful story short...we miscarried. I think, though I am not certain, that we miscarried because I was always taking naproxen sodium (Aleve) for cramps...I didn't realize I was pregnant. We started trying to conceive again and if I am pregnant right now, it happened eight days ago. I have this tighening feeling in the top of my stomach, not near my utuerus...so what could it be? Could I be pregnant and already have this as a symptom? Is this even a symptom? I am scared because last time, I didn't know I was pregnant, and took medication that is not good during pregnancies. I am so scared. I want to be pregnant so so bad, am I over-worrying? I know this is a lot of questions, but I am going to give the best answers as many points as possible!

nikole216 replied: "Your feelings could be from pregnancy. I started feeling a cramping, pulling feeling during and after ovulation. Are you thinking you miscarried before because you had bleeding. If you had a positive test and never had bleeding you would still be pregnant from that time. If you had heavy bleeding then chances are you did miscarry. If you can get to the doctor and explain your situation they can give you an ultrasound to determine how old the baby is.That way you would know for sure. If you know you miscarried and you are expecting your period if you are not pregnant this time Just wait for your period and if it does not come test. Good Luck and Baby Dust!!!"

Merricks Mommy replied: "OK.. first of all... calm down sweetie... I'm a nurse, and I can tell you that miscarriages are caused by many uncontrolable things.. now, naproxen can and will cause miscarriage if taken in excess but moving along....There is no possible way that the tigntning in the top of your stomach could be a symptom already, although you MAY be pregnant. My suggestion is to stop taking whatever you feel may be harmful to a baby for another week.. and go and get a blood test. I had to get a blood test with my son and with the child i'm carrying now. Your body may not make enough of the HCG hormone that is detected in home pregnancy tests... so a blood test is the best way to go... it can tell you if you are or aren't after only 2 weeks.. (when the egg implants into the uterus) and there are no false positives and no false negatives. Try to deal with the pain without medicines until you know for sure. Good luck!"

mumma p replied: "I am really sorry that this happened to you, but dont blame yourself. You did not know you were pregnant. You definately could be pregnant, within a week of falling I was tired, went off tea and coffee, and was sick. I hope you are because you sound like you would dearly love to be a mummy. Good luck!"

I can't calm down, could they take my baby for something I told them about? I am 38 weeks pregnant. I have TMJ, and my jaw pops out of socket when I open my mouth, and grinds against the bone. They can't fix it because surgery is too risky during pregnancy. I also have extremely bad headaches, and I have undergone an EEG, EKG, MRI, KAT scan, blood test, and prolly more that I can't remember right now. For my mouth I was perscribed Loritab uhh 7.5/500 or something like that. All I know is they are medium strength. I was also prescribed a lower strength for my headaches. I use to get a refill every 1-3 months, but I haven't needed them as much lately, so I havent called in for a refill since early march. My doctor said that I should only take them when I really need them, because they can hurt your liver. At my pregnancy doctor, on the first visit they had me write down every medication I had taken more than once in the last month. I wrote down Tylenol, Nyquil, Zoloft (I took it once a day for anxiety), Loritab,Tums for heartburn and Aleve. They told me not to take the Nyquil or aleve anymore. And then they said at my next visit I would talk to the doctor about the danger of taking Zoloft. They never said to discontinue the use of loritab. Once I talked to the doctor, I stopped taking the zoloft. She said if I felt that I couldn't deal with the anxiety to start taking it again. It hasn't been easy, but knowing it could be unsafe for my son, I haven't started taking it again. I plan to continue to not take it while I breast feed. She didn't mention loritab, so I thought it was safe. My dad just told me that it could have hurt the baby, and since I never see the same doctor (My doctors office has multiple doctors), and since I gave the list to a PA instead of the doctor (the PA is who I saw the first time) that they could say that I never told anyone and take my baby. How is this possible? I have done everything I have been told, and if I had known the risks I would have stopped immediately. I'm scared I'm going to lose my baby, and that he could have been effected by something I didn't know could hurt him. I was perscribed 20 of each dose, and I've taken about 25 them throughout my pregnancy. My jaw and head has been hurting alot more lately (when my jaw pops out of place, it makes my head hurt also), so I've one a day for the last few days. I try taking tylenol instead, because the loritab makes me drowsy. I want to cry, and I don't know what to do. I can't imagine losing my baby. Could this really happen!? I'm sorry this is such a long question, I'm just really worked up. Thanks. 38weeks with baby Elliott. I have been taking them though. I didn't know I couldn't.

AdvntrsinOdyC replied: "God bless you. No one is going to take your baby! Talk to your dr about the meds you take. Dont worry Congratualtions Mom!"

Momma replied: "Not as long as you are not using the meds. They can test you if they need to know the last time you used if it is even still in your system."

Soon2BeMommyOf3 replied: "I dont think they can take your baby away for that. If you filled out the paper work and it was written there then it is in your chart, whether the doctor overlooked it or not. Its not the same as if you had a drug problem and were taking the medication inappropriately, you have a valid medical reason as well as a legal prescription for it. If you are really concerned then ask your doctor. It is not a drug problem therefor they can not and will not take your baby. Stay strong and I hope you have a happy healthy baby!"

Lynn replied: "First thing - don't panic. It is your baby - remember that - babies don't get taken away randomly and it sounds like you have been trying to do the right things. Your medications are perscriptsion and if anyone could be in trouble it would be the doctors for malpractice really... But remember, you aren't taking your zoloft, so things probably seem worse than they are. Remember that too. Next, Loritab is a Class C medication: Pregnancy Category C - There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Lortab 10/500 tablets should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. This is not the same as one that always causes damage. Your pregnancy is almost over and you have gone out of your way for your baby to do the right thing. Don't start second guessing yourself now. You are going to be a great mom."

Mia*due Aug.29th* replied: "They will if you have drugs in your system. Hopefully thats all your taking. Loritabs are bad enough."

Tia B replied: "No no no its not illegal, they only take baby if its an illegal drug and its in the babys system when you give birth, just stop taken them so it won't be in the babys system but your fine! I have a friend that got bit on the butt by a spider and they had to dig out the wound and they gave her lortabs for the pain and she is pregnant, as long as your not abusing them baby should be fine! Shame on your dad for making you worrie but it sounds like something my mom would do.:)"

Starlitshores replied: "Hello dear worried mother, who told you that you could loose your baby? I don't see how any one can think this. Here's the info: Lortab is FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether Lortab is harmful to an unborn baby, but it could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. This is especially true in the third trimester. Talk to you doctor the next time you see him. Ask him if you can stop cold turkey taking lortab or if it will hurt baby to do so. If he says you can stop it, try not to take the lortab especially for the next two weeks before your deliver Elliot. A couple weeks of pain is better than having a newborn with health problems at birth and remember while breast feeding lortab it does pass into breast milk. Talk to your baby's pediatrician about taking it or not. No one will take your baby. Even if you were using cocaine, which is probably one of the worst substances a person can subject their baby to, the doctor would send you to rehab but you would still be able to regain custody if you followed all rehab orders....but this is not like that! It is a category C, if it was a category X then it would mean that it would hurt you baby. No doctor knows what Category C drugs will do, there hasn't been studies saying the drug is either good of bad. Probably some of this heightened anxiety is due to going off the zoloft. I was on lexapro before I was pregnant then went off so my son Jonathan would not be hurt. It was difficult, but I made it through, but postpartum was tough. You said that you will not take zoloft during breast feeding. I nursed and so did not get on any meds for 4 months, but the postpartum depression (caused by hormones and lack of sleep) got so bad I decided to go on zoloft. My son's pediatrician said that it was better for him the have formula than to be exposed to zoloft or have a mommy that was so tired all she could think about was sleep, instead of her baby. Good luck with breast feeding. You will love your son so much you won't believe it! Just watch out for depression. You should always enjoy your son, if you don't seek help."

jenny replied: "first they cant take your baby,. You told them the MedS you are suppose to take and it will Be in your records no matter how many docs you see. I am pregnant right now and see multiple docs also I am now 23 weeks and prob have seen only 1 of them more then once. I am on zoloft, zomig, pregnancy vitamins and a preventative med for migraines, I told them all this and each one has the info in my chart they share the same chart not every doc has a diff chart. I was told to stay on my zoloft because my anxiety is to high and I could hurt the baby more by having my panic attacks, So right there my docs say something diff then yours so no one could take you baby because each doc feels diff. Its what best in doc eyes, If you are worried about taking this med call and ask if you should stop. But by all means hun sit down and breath they can not take your baby away you have done nothing wrong,"

What's Happening w/me? I had my period about 22-25 days ago, but my breast were sore before my period, during my period, and up until 5 days ago. I came on my period two times in July, and once in August. When I came on in August, on the 6th day, I experienced a CRAMP!!! like no bodies business. It hurt so bad that I had to go and lay down for about 30 minutes. I felt like I couldn't walk or move at all. Anyway, after that, I took some Aleve and 30 minutes later, I was fine. However, my period stayed around for 9 days instead of its usual 7. As I said before, my breasts were sore before my August cycle, during that cycle, and after. I've been cramping at lest once a week since then, but no signs of blood or any unusual discharge, but my breast were sore up until 5 days ago. Yesterday, I went to the doctors and took a pregnancy test, it came back negative, and I’ve noticed an increase in my appetite over the past 4 weeks. It seems I’m never full. I don't know what the problem could possibly be. Does anyone know what I should do? If so, please tell me. Thanks

April replied: "well it sounds like you do think you are pregnant. now even if your not pregnant and you really think you are sometimes your body can play tricks on you and you start getting some of the symptoms."
