Lord_Darkclaw replied: "If it says "Best Before" it means that it will be safe to use even years after the expiry, the vitamins will probably lose their.. ummm, "vitamins".. but they will still be safe to consume.
"Use By" is a strict time limit; foods like coleslaw may taste okay but be unsafe to eat where as eggs, although they have a Use By date, will tell you when they have gone off because they will stink of sulphur."
information_police replied: "If a chemical becomes dangerous after it's expiration date, it would never be allowed on the market. The main danger of expired drugs or vitamins is that they can break down and lose their effectiveness. There is nothing magical about that date either - it just means that they have done stability studies and the substance is still mostly intact and effective when stored under the recommended conditions for that amount of time.
If you store the stuff at an extreme temperature it can go bad before the expiration date. If stored properly it can last much longer than the expiration date.
Basically, for a vitamin or mineral, they are pretty stable. Inorganic minerals like cupric oxide, iron, zinc will last indefinitely (even if it has an expiration date). If it's too old it just might have the danger of being contaminated wtih bacteria or something like that.
I'm not going to look up all those chemicals for you, though."

Kango Man replied: "As far as I am aware, the only vitamin you really don't want to OD on is vitamin A, as it fcuks your liver up if you have too much in one go, apart from that, all that could happen is something like anaphylactic shock IF and only if you were allergic to nuts."
mcfifi replied: "Not a lot - you might throw up or get the runs.
Only dangerous if you made a habit of it."
crazygodddesss replied: "I would imagine that as long as youre not sensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients, the result is mostly going to be extremely bright yellow pee. Seems to me its mostly a waste of money to do something like that, however. Taking multi vitamins over a period of time is good for you, hammering your system with so many at once is mostly just stupid.
Good luck and Goddess Bless!"
julie t replied: "don't do it iron can be a problem its an overdose call NHS direct or go to the doctor if you have"
YourDreamDoc replied: "You will be overdosed and poisoned. Too much vitamins at the same times is no good. Your kidney is not able to handle all those things... They turned out to be a waste..
Once a day is enough"
DJ replied: "Your pee would be super flourescent yellow. Not much other than that."
Melanie D replied: "Don't do it! It won't kill you but it could cause all sorts of problems. Vitamins and minerals can be very dangerous if taken in large quantities - pills are made with specific doses - you should follow the instructions on the bottle just as you would with medication."
beccy_anne replied: "You would probably feel sick. The names of the vitamins are less important than their quanitites. You can OD on vitamins believe it or not!"
causalitist replied: "the iron will f8ck u up!!!!!! you will OD on the iron (ferrous fumarate).
minerals are what causes problems... vit a,b,c, etc are not a big deal. but really, people OD on iron supplements alot."
sexydee_lpn replied: "nothing ususally with water soluble vitamins your body takes what it needs and you excrete the rest through urination"
Dave replied: "u would be poisoned and possible irretrieavable damage to ur body bits"
۩☻RED-SKIN-HAWK♥ replied: "Your tablets contain not only vitamin, but minerals also.
First you should consider, why u are taking multivitamins and minerals. It can be get in ur routine diet.
The purpose of taking such pills - when you are lack of them. It can be after a serious illness or in your place you dont have type of foods which containing vitamin and mineral.
You should know each vitamins and minerals have its daily requirement. e.g. Vitamin C - Adults need 40 mg a day.
Taking 1000 mg or less of vitamin C supplements a day is unlikely to cause any harm.
As far as vitamins are concerned they can be divided into water soluble(B,C,..) and fat soluble(A,D,E,K), the latter is dangerous when u overdose it.Coz water soluble vitamin can be excreted by urine and sweat.Fat Soluble Vitamins can be stored in the body and need not be consumed daily. While it is difficult to "overdose" on them from ordinary sources, consuming mega doses of fat soluble vitamins, especially A and D, can lead to a dangerous buildup in the body.
minerals also same as vitamin when we talk about overdose.
e.g. Iron daily need for men: 8-10 mg women 8-13 mg (when menstrual period or pregnancy little bit higher)
You should check the doses of each vit and minerals that you wrote here.It can be find on the label of the bottle or in leaflet.Further more the daily dosage of the pill also should have been written there.(usually 1 pill a day )
If you are a healthy person and you are taking nutritious food you dont need those pills.
Taking 10 pills is not advisable and It can be injurious to ur health.
Take a advise with ur doctor for ur daily requirement.
If you have question in daily requirement follow the link that I provided for you."

Family guy replied: "The question is why would you? How about just not doing it?
Your body can't absorb that many vitamins at once. You may get an upset stomach and throw up, you may become constipated from the iron. It's just not a good idea......"

For iron supplements, which one is the vegan one, sulfate, fumarate, or gluconate? I need to pick out an iron supplement and I am vegan. I know one of them is vegan, at least, either ferrous sulfate, ferrous gluconate, or ferrous fumarate, but I need to buy it local because I need it now. The companies that sell the vegan vitamins don't list online which kind they use so I don't know which kind is vegan. I know I need to take it with Vitamin C, b12, and folic acid/folate and I know to not take any Calcium or tea at the same time. Thanks!
Llori S replied: "why do you need suppliments on a vegan diet?
if you're eating a real vegan diet.. you're getting more of those minerals and vitamins than recommended daily."

How long does a single iron tablet stay in your blood? I have been very tired lately and my sports doctor wanted me to get a blood test to see if i had an iron deficiency. So I did. But 8 hours before i had 1 single iron tablet (bought from the supermarket) it says on the bottle : take 3 times daily and it has;
ferrous fumarate (iron 5mg), folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin C and herb powder. I only took 1 tablet could that wreck my blood test, to see if i do havve an iron deficiency. I am 14 and do alot (25 hours) of sport a week. Pls help thnx
Mu1 replied: "Who IS that idiot who keeps posting that stupid Adidas ad (above)?!! Anyway hon back to your question....if you are anaemic, one iron tab taken 8 hours before your test won't make any difference...you'll still show as anaemic if you are. It might be a good idea for you to take the test results to a doctor- sounds like you may need a slightly stronger formula - also always make sure you take iron with Vitamin C - if it's not listed on the bottle (as yours is) take the iron with fresh OJ. Otherwise it doesn't get absorbed by your body."
prenatal vitamins and iron pills?? My doctor prescribed me prenatal vitamins and iron pills when i was 12 weeks...but i have been taking the prenatal vitamins but i don't take the iron pills. Here are some other things that should help you.
This question kind of asks the same thing.
Good luck with your pregnancy!"
zytah replied: "your doctor was prolly just being over cautious.
when i found out i was pregnant, i was already taking prenatal vitamins before my first visit to the doctor. even with the prenatals, my blood still showed borderline anemia. i was then prescribed iron pills to see if that would boost up a bit and it did help alot."
angelbaby replied: "Not weird, from my experience. I had to take the iron pills in addition to my prenatals, and my doctor suggested I eat iron rich foods as well. Total cereal was a good option they gave me, I used to eat it for breakfast almost every morning. Everything definitely helped, but even if it does you need to continue with it until after your pregnancy. My iron levels were fine until after I had my baby, then they dropped again and I had to continue the iron pills for a few more days."
Is pottassium in any of these vitamins? if so how much?

Of the three types of iron supplements, which have vegan (non-animal) sources? Between ferrous sulfate, ferrous gluconate, and ferrous fumarate, the three choices of iron supplement, which one or ones are not made from animal products? I already know I need to take it with Vitamin C, b12, and folic acid/folate and I know to not take any Calcium or tea at the same time. I just need help knowing which kind to buy because I do not use things made from animals. Thanks!
By the way before anyone tries to pull a fast one, I know one of them is vegan because there are vegan iron supplements available online, I just don't know which kind they use. And I can't wait to buy the ones online because I need it now and anyway I can't really afford the extra shipping cost.
Thanks hardcore but I need it now and can't afford to travel or pay shipping to order online, and all we have in my town is walmart and grocery stores so I need to know the actual form of ferrous, either sulfate, gluconate, and fumarate that is vegan because I'll have to buy some generic brand.
hardcoregirl4ever replied: "Floradix Iron plus herbs is the best, especially the liquid. Tastes like crap, but it is the only thing that helped my friend, who is a vegan as well. I used to work in a health food store, and I had to hide a bottle for her all the time because we sold so much of it."
JustMe replied: "I use Iron (ferrous fumarate) Plus C Complex and it's plant based."
Sabine É replied: "A completely vegan iron supplement = Ferrous Fumarate"
♫Aye♫Aye replied: "As far as I'm aware, all iron supplements are non heme.
Ferrous Fumarate
Ferrous Gluconate
Ferrous Sulfate
Iron-Polysaccharide
Some good sources of non heme iron:
peas
Stinging Nettle (raw-crushed, dried, cooked, or made into a tea) Stinging Nettle is probably the richest source of plant-based iron there is.
Pumpkin seeds
Blackstrap Molasses
Iron-fortified cereals
Dark green leafy vegetables
Dried fruits, nuts, and seeds
Increasing intake of vitamin-C rich foods can enhance absorption of non-heme iron during a single meal. One orange or 6 ounces of orange juice can double the amount of iron your body absorbs from plant foods. (Taking vitamin C supplements does not appear to have any significant effect on iron stores.)
Foods containing riboflavin (vitamin B2) may help enhance the formation of hemoglobin from iron."
Susan Yarrawonga replied: "What you want is veggie capsules or veggie tablets containing an iron supplement. The iron supplement itself contains no animal matter of any kind but any animal matter is found in the tablet filler, tablet binder or in the capsule material (for example gelatin capsules). Usually the phrase veggie capsules is written on containers containing capsules that are free of all animal products. Wilst I have seen lots of veggie capsules I have never seen any veggie tablets."
