I have really clear skin now, but also gained weight, got headaches, etc. Try it out and then if you see side-effects just go back to your doctor and he/she will drop you down to something not quite as strong. :) all the best."

Since coming off this pill, I have lost 10lb, so it definitely causes weight gain, as it increases your appetite and makes you lay down more fat on your hips, bust and thighs. I did have mood swings and it messed up my periods, as well as making my sex drive non-existent! I'd suggset trying Yasmin instead, I hear it has far less side effects. HTH."

diane 35 or Yasmin? which is better? I was given advice by the doctor when i consulted her for Birth Control pills..she recommended me both Diane-35 & Yasmin... It seems like both are equally good and I was wondering which to go on.. I am looking for one with the least side effects like no sudden weight gain and less prone to pigmentations in the future..one with the least side effect as compared to another.. what about the levels of hormones levels in the pills itself? How does this level effect the user who is consuming them? oh ya...just to add, i am 24 this year... as wat i know, diane 35 is mostly prescribed to woman who are in their 40s...is it ok for my age since the hormones level aint the same..

Diane 35 and Yasmin.. and intermensterual bleeding? hi, I started taking Yasmin contraceptive on May, 3rd (1st day of my period) and since last week i'm experiencing breakthrough bleeding, and this really annoys the thing is, i had taken Diane 35 contraceptive, two times before this time (last time was 4 yrs ago) , for about 4-6 months and never had this problem!..... so, should i shift to Diane 35 next month??..... or my body nature has chaged and i have to wait till it adapt to Yasmin?

VCC replied: "Diane-35 (or Diannete in the UK) is better for skin 100%. It's actually an acne treatment but with the added side-effect of being a birth control. That's because Diane-35 has more estrogen in than Yasmin, infact higher than all the other pills (i think) and it's the higher estrogen that is good for your skin Yasmin tends to have lower negative side effects such as headaches, nausea, bloating/weight. If your specifically looking to help your skin i would just try out Diane-35 first to clear your skin, and if you do get bad side effects than try Yasmin. And even a some time on Diane-35 should help your skin even if you don't stay on it."

MED replied: "I highly recommend that you do NOT go on Yasmin. I was on it for only four months which were too long in my opinion! Yasmin put me through hell, some mornings I could not get up because of how depressed I was and I would just cry all day and not to mention the migranes you get! It's like this pain in your head that you never thought you could have. You gain weight, acne does not improve at all if you've actually GOT the condition of acne and not just a few pimples. You also gain a lot of weight and abnormal hair growth. I recommend Diane, I'm going on it soon and it's an anti-angrogen meaning it kills off male hormones which produce acne and hair growth etc."

VCC replied: "Diane-35 was made my skin immaculate/perfect, but gave me headaches. If i forgot to take my pill at night and had to take it in the morning, i would feel ill for the next couple of days. Yasmin did still give me good skin, maybe one or two small spots before my period but nothing bad. No headaches or any bad side effects so far (4 months). I've been on both and yasmin has been the best for me personally so far, the hormones where a tad too high for me in Diannete (Diane-35 in the USA). Personally i love yasmin right now because this is like my th pill and it's the nly one which hasn't given me headaches, nausea, bad spotty skin. All the other were either feeling ill or bad skin. There is a very slightly higher risk of blood clots on Diannete than other pills. But it's really nothing to worry about if the pill is workin for you. I spoke to my doctor because i was worried about this and without goin into the long explanation she gave, aslong as it's not predominate in your family history, it's absolutely fine to take, so don't let anyone put you off."

how fast does diane 35 work on improving ur complexion??? Two years ago I started taking Diane 35 cos i had mild acne and after few months my skin was so perfect but then i changed to Yasmin and Ive been taking Yasmin for over 2 years cos i and it also worked well. However, last month i started having some spots on my face and every day I was getting more and more...for some reason it wasnt working anymore so this month i started taking diane 35 again...i finished all the tablets of yasmin, waited one week and then started with diane 35. Now I have almost one week with diane so i was wondering how long would i need to wait to see the effect on my face? I know that in 3 months my face should be perfect but is it possible to see an effect before that?? and was it ok the way i change of pill?

Naz V replied: "The exact same thing happened to me. I wasn't happy on Yasmin or Alesse, the blemishes crept back so I asked my doctor to put me back on Diane. I would give it a 1-1.5 month to start to see things changing but like you said 3 months until there is a significant difference. There are also things you can do to help the process (diet changes, drinking lots of water) and you might even see results faster. If your doctor prescribed the diane for you after the yasmin then I wouldn't worry about changing contraceptives. People change them all the time depending on a lot of things. Diane works by blocking the androgens in your body (things that cause blemishes) when you aren't on it, they slowly creep back in your system and yasmin can't do anything about it which is why you were fine for 2 years and then steadily they came back."

Diane 35 (Dianette) and the 7 day rule- need help ASAP!? I was originally on yasmin, but it gave me really terrible morning nausea, so I stopped mid-pack, and about 2 months later got prescribed diane 35. My period was pretty weird- I kept getting brown blood that could last anywhere between 2-9 days, so I wasn't even sure if that was my period or not, so I didn't want to wait for my period before starting diane 35. (I'm very sure i'm not pregnant, I took a test) Today is the 9th day of pill-taking (I haven't taken it yet, so technically the 8th day?) and I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. The latest I ever took my pills (nightly at 10pm) was half an hour late. The diane 35 pamphlet specifies that I am protected as long as I take it for at least 7 days, but it also says I should start on the first day of my period. Kristina M replied: "i am about to start those pills, im trying to wait for my period to start (like the instructions say) but my period is also very odd so i want to just go ahead and start it. all the other pills i have tried (including yasmin like you) say to wait a month before having unprotected sex but the diane pills do say a week, but i wouldnt trust it..so wait a month before having unprotected sex, and as far as you starting the pills before your period started, it might be better for you to have your period first before starting so that way you are sure to shed the egg you released last cycle and can start fresh and safe...but then again im no doctor, just ive been on many pills for a while...but just to be safe finish the pack, have your period, then once you have your period and start a new pack, go ahead you should be protected for sure then"
