wood management

The wood (pine offcuts) is supplied by our local sawmill and delivered on site in large bales.

These are cut in two with a chainsaw and then stacked on custom made trolleys. The trolleys have castors which makes for easy moving of the wood around the kiln site, the floor of which is concreted.  We try to have enough wood for three firings on site at any one time.

The kiln site is covered with a leanto which ensures dry wood.
