What is Little Bedrock? DN is a role-play game where a player creates a character and writes their experiences as that character in the game's environment. Is this like Dungeons and Dragons style role-playing? Simming is much looser than D&D-style games. It has no dicerolls, or set characteristics, modifiers and abilities. It's style is far more free-form, however the Game Master (GM) will add plot elements and ensure that players do not overstep the boundaries. What about these bounties? If a player creates a villain character, the character may end up on the bounty list of the Sheriff's office (along with plenty of NPCs). This will allow other characters to hunt down the bounty. Currently, if a villain is on the bounty list, two hunters must be there to kill him/her, these hunters must be PCs. These hunters would have to consult the GM first for the go-ahead, and also the check whether the conditions are different (more than 2 men), then they must write the killing with the villain's player, who kills the villain is up to the writers, the other could just be their for backup. On the converse, should villains want to kill another PC, they will have to achieve consent from the GM who will set up conditions requiring a minimum of three PCs. They will then write with the player to be killed. If targets gang up to face their foe, then conditions will change. The GM feels this will add a new element to the gameplay. What if I don't want my character to be killed? Any players being put on a bounty list, or becoming a target for villains will be told beforehand. You can ask for reprieve, but in the cases of villains, this will be hard to secure: if you do the crime, expect to do the time. This could leave you being captured alive and thrown in jail... What do I have to do to join? The first step to applying is to fill out the form at the bottom of the page. This is the biography of your character, like D&D's character sheets. This is simply to give you a guide to your character, as well as letting other players know what your character is and is like, its contents are not rigid and this allows you to write a rounded character in the sim. Please note that this game is only suitable for people aged 18 or over. What do I need to keep in mind when applying? Please use the resources on the site and the web in order to create a character that is quite true to the times. If you want to be family to a character already in the sim, contact the player (or the GM if you cannot get in touch with the player) before submitting your application. Please note that this game is only suitable for people aged 18 or over. What features will give me a better chance of being accepted?
What kind of players do you want? Our players should be able to cope with the game's free-form nature, and work within that without having their characters always be the best or superhuman. They should be able to work within the direction that the GM pushes the plot, but also help further it themselves. The player should be motivated to moving along the plot and working with the GM and other players to make the game a fun experience. The player should be comfortable working with others as well as working in the past tense, from third person. A good desire for learning is very necessary unless you are experts on the time. What will happen once I'm accepted? If your player can be easily worked into the plot, then you will automatically be introduced, usually through a post with or checked by a senior player. This post should occur within the first week of acceptance, with a promise to maintain one post a week for the probation period of three months, although allowances will be given if you contact the GM with a suitable reason. If you do not keep up during the probationary period, you will be notified and removed from the game, and your character will revert to a non-player character (NPC) and will be killed off somehow. Try to learn what you can about the times, a good place to start could be: http://www.media.utah.edu/UHE/ How should I go about leaving once joined? Notify the GM immediately, and he will either allow you to kill off your character or send them away from the area and hence out of the story. If you do not wish to write further, the GM will take over the character. What do I do about creating another character? If you are already a player in the sim, please notify the GM of your intentions and then fill out the form with the details present. |
