VideoFutures is a limited company incorporated in the UK. It has been established by an expert in the Video Compression field, with 25 years of experience.

VideoFutures supplies consultancy services to companies that wish to improve their video compression products and also provides licenses for software video codec technology.

The founder of the company has worked at one of Europe’s largest industrial research establishments during the 1980s with a specific focus on video compression for telecommunications applications. He was responsible for the first commercial consumer PSTN Videophone in Europe in the early 1990s, which in turn inspired the ITU to instigate standardisation of H.263. He was the compression expert behind the UK’s foremost video-conferencing companies providing well-known International companies with their compression technologies.

In the 2000s, the founder provided the compression technology for one of the first (and best) examples of transmitting video over the GSM radio network, and also the provision of compressed video clips over the GPRS network to handheld devices.

The founder has 3 degrees in Mathematics, has been a member of the UK governments body which awards research grants to UK universities in this area and has attended many of the ITU standardisation meetings for H.261, H.263, H.263+, H.263++, and H.264/AVC.
