The Doonican's have been hard at work completing their studio recording of Spark's 1974 hit 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us' for a tribute album that will raise money for The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity.
The lads soon got involved in the project after getting an e-mail from one of the album's producers, who approached them after seeing their live video on 'You Tube'.
The album has been approved by Sparks themselves and is 'in the can' ready for release, with many other bands (including ex-Dead Kennedys member Jello Biafra) adding their contributions to the tracklisting.
The album will be available on CD via pre-order only. Go to
A launch party for the album will be held in London at Madame Jojo's 'Blitzkrieg Bop' night on 29 November. From the launch date onwards, the compilation will be available for purchase as a complete-album-only download from a dedicated web site.
Commenting on their version, Scott said "The version we have recorded is very similar to the stripped-down live version we do... mainly just geetar and 6-string banjo. We loved the original because it was very theatrical and a real challenge to carry-off live! We only hope we've done Sparks' version justice!"
