History

All of the tracks on CD Location stand in isolation-there is no overall concept. A lot of the tracks have been noise-processed using NERO Wave Editor. The tracks represent work done with the HT/MT Casio series as well as the Cheetah MK5 which allowed playing other channels on the keyboards that may not have been able to sound in the same range from the keyboard's own keys. The Finding is another incarnation of the Spellbinder track played on the MT500. Elation is a direct copy from another tape.
Life in 3D in its first incarnation I am proud of as it moves from and opening piece to a drum-based section and thence to a computer-based ending - thus the 3 parts - birth,life and death. The title was in my head from the RUSH lyrics "Life in 2 dimensions is a mass production scheme" - from Power Windows.
Stepfather was based on the theme from the film by Patrick Moraz - I have since reworked it on "New Age" and I prefer the newer version.
Tribal Heartbeat  and Rainforest  were the first experiments using computer algorithms to make music,an idea I would use on "Quantum".
Sunbeams was titled after the music was made as it reminded me of sunbeams on a bright day - the metallic sounds are PSS480 SYSx edited sounds using the VIC.
Aquilla is a re-working of the title track of "Aquilla" using Cakewalk Express on a PC,which itself was based on "White Eagle" by Tangerine Dream.
Starman I am very impressed by  - it is a version of the John Carpenter theme to the movie -it makes use of a Yamaha PSR series -the model I cannot recall, which I borrowed from my neighbour - what impresses me is that it sounds like their is a vocal choir with the orhestral strings and the overall sound conveys a similar effect to the original piece.
Voyager uses vocal samples and a programmed HT backing to try and create the scenario of the space probe Voyager reporting back to Earth. Of course the probe was featured in Starman and also in Star Trek and I started to wonder how lonely Voyager would feel if it had any feelings at all.
Seascape uses vocal samples and HT/PSS for a short ditty imagining overlooking the sea. Open Wall is a nod to Tangerine Dream again,I borrowed this track as I liked it and it seemed apt to use it at the time theBerlin Wall came down.
Miami is homage to Jan Hammer whose music in Miami Vice greatly affected me - here it was the theme used when Crockett had been shot and no one knew if he would live.
