My Hornet

My CB900F2 Hornet / 919

This is my Honda CB900F2 Hornet, known in the USA as a Honda 919 after it's cubic capacity of 919cc. This is an April 2003 bike. The bike has the engine taken from the Honda Fireblade of 1998 before Honda upped the Fireblade motor to 954cc. It is the same engine but manufactured now and tuned for low to mid-range torque rather than top end power. Some horsepower has been sacrificed for better "pull" through the gears. Horsepower is now about 110bhp but has a lot of torque at 92Nm/6,500min. I have also altered the gearing to give more acceleration at the expense of a few mph off the top speed. The top speed is quoted at about 140-145mph depending what you are reading and where.

I am very pleased with it, I wanted the power of a big bike but without the fairings and cramped riding position of a sportsbike and for less money.

"The CB900 aka Honda 919 does the 1/4 mile in the upper 10's. Max speed of about 150mph. Has 101 hp. 0-60mph in 2.7 secs (it'll pull your arms out of the sockets believe me). It's very light for a 900cc bike and can easily wheelie if your not real careful. It handles very well in the twisties. There is substantial engine braking available (low flywheel inertia). Transitions from off to on throttle (and vice versa) can be abrupt if you're not used to it".
