Darlington boss Gary Bennett faces a Sunderland backlash after launching a surprise attack on his former club for not playing them in pre-season.
The former Sunderland favourite is sure to have angered Stadium of Light chiefs after publicly expressing his disappointment that The Quakers were not offered a money-spinning friendly ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking at a fans' forum in Newton Aycliffe, Bennett said: "The clubs up here should be playing up here - not in Torquay, Plymouth and Exeter."
There now appears to be no love lost between Bennett and Sunderland following The Black Cats' decision to enter an unofficial link-up with The Quakers' Division Three rivals Hull and York late last season.
But in the past Peter Reid has agreed to loan the likes of Neil Wainwright, Kevin Kyle and Thomas Butler to The Quakers. However, this latest outburst, is unlikely to have done Bennett any good as far as further "favours" are concerned.
