First Sutton Match? At home to West Ham’s first team in a friendly, 08/10/96. We lost 4-0, but even after that drubbing I was hooked!

First Away Game : Carshalton 1-5 Sutton, 13/04/98…. a Joff Vansittart hat-trick :)

Best game involving Sutton? The 4-1 win at Aylesbury, 10/04/99. You could tell how much our players wanted to win, and how Aylesbury already knew they’d lost the title.

Favourite player of all time and why? Joff Vansittart, because he scored about 35 goals in the 97/98 season and was/is such a strong striker. I was heartbroken when he left!

Best memory watching United? Beating Aldershot 5-0 to win the league, 22/04/99. It was a dream come true… and seems a very long time ago now!

Favourite goal this season? Dave Harlow’s 20 yard lob, away at Billericay, when we won 5-0. Saw the shot heading straight towards me - good job it went in under the post!

Best team performance? Last season’s 3-1 trophy replay win at Rushden. Amazing. Every single player was brilliant that night.

Favourite current player and why? Dave Harlow, because he’s a great midfielder and… he’s just great!

Worst moment at a Sutton Match? Losing 6-0 to the K’s last season. It was the first time I’d ever walked out of a game before the end (there was still 20 mins left!)

What question/s would you add (and you can answer it /them)?

*What’s the furthest non-league away ground you’ve been to? Morecambe last season. Not a majorly happy memory!

Best team performance?! See best game above

Best memory watching United? seeing Nko throw a punch at the ref last season. What a laugh!

Favourite goal this season? Danny Bolts free-kick against Hitchin. Must have been laser guided!

Favourite current player and why? Gareth Howells. He always comes up with the goods. I always wonder why he hasn't been snapped up by a league club (but i'm not complaining.)

Worst moment at a Sutton Match? losing 5-0 at home against Enfield, or losing 6-0 away at Ks in the trophy semi and getting home to see Chelsea lost 5-1 at the Nou Camp in the Champions League Quarters. Bollocks!

What question/s would you add? Best away non-league ground ? Without doubt, Nene Park (Rushden and Ds.)

Best game involving Sutton:

For sheer excitement and tension – Colchester away – F.A.Cup 1st Round 1993 – I thought my head was going to explode!

Difficult one – a choice between Efan Ekoku, Ron Fearon (first time around) and Dominic “God” Feltham.

Best team performance:

Middlesbrough away – F.A.Cup 3rd Round Replay 1988, followed by Aylesbury away 1999 (the impromptu duck walk just finished it off splendidly!)

Best memory watching United:

Too many to just select one

Jimmy Dack’s goal at Forest Green in the abandoned game – the best free-kick move since Sweden’s in World Cup 1994.

First Away Game :
1994 v. Enfield in the Trophy. Steve Smart gets sent off as we go down 1-0
Best game involving Sutton?
Either: Notts County in the FA Cup - lost 3-2
Or: Kidderminster in FA Cup replay - won on penalties
Or: the 9-a-side Kingstonian match about 3 years ago - won 5-2
Or: Away to Aylesbury last season - driving past all the Ducks fans after the game and watching them more or less in tears was the Funniest thing I have ever seen.
Or: the championship winning thumping against Aldershot
Favourite player of all time and why?
Nigel Golley - who would have thought someone that oafish could be that good?
Best team performance?
Aylesbury away last season, especially after going down to 10 men
Best memory watching United?
After we beat Kidderminster on penalties (see above), I was the first person on the pitch to celebrate. Just before I was about to jump on Gary McCann's shoulders, I slipped, fell over in the GGL bog/pitch and Nigel Golley trod on my wrist.

Sammy Winston v Kingstonian
Best team performance this season?

First Sutton Match?

Can’t remember whom it was against. But it would have been about 1983-84 and I
think Mickey Joyce stuck the ball in the net moments after we walked
through the GGL turnstile. First Away Game? I’m sure it was the 11-0 at Leatherhead. What more incentive do you need to
keep coming back eh? Still bloody waiting for a repeat though!!
(I missed Gateshead!) Best game involving Sutton? No particular fave. So here’s a few off the top of my head: Middlesboro (A)
FA Cup 3rd round replay - Wycombe (A) FA Trophy semi 1st leg – Notts County (A)
FA Cup 3rd Round – Carsh*ton (A) Surrey Senior final at Woking. 1-0 down
to 3-1 up in the last 5 minutes!!! Favourite player of all time and why? Lenny Dennis or Paul Rogers. Lenny was god and LOVED scoring goals. It showed
too! Curly was Mr 100%. A quality player. What I’d do to have
him in the centre of the park now! Best team performance? Uhhhh, Probably Middlesborough or Notts County in the FA Cup. Both sides
were superb on those days. Best memory-watching United? Gary Thomas grabbing the winner at Newport in the Trophy and us all
fun I ever had watching the U’s. Favourite goal this season? Either Dave Harlow’s free kick at Welling or his strike at Salisbury recently.
It’s not exactly been a vintage year so far! Favourite current player and why? Barry Laker. Utter class. If he doesn't make it at a higher level, I’ll be
bloody surprised. Worst moment at a Sutton Match? Either watching the Kettering game that relegated us from the Conference in ’91
on the TV in the Plough pub opposite the ground (Yes it WAS on
the TV!! Some crap cable channel or other…) or sitting on the Shoebox after
the Wycombe FA Trophy Semi – 2nd leg. The closest I’ve come to feeling physically sick at a game
without alcohol being involved…. What question would you add? How about these? : “Best Ever goal?” “Best/Worst ground?”
“Most beer drunk on an away trip?” “Why the hell do we do it to ourselves?”
“Graham Roberts. Why?” “Will the Scummers EVER go bust?”
“Will K’s ever go bust?” “The 2 man corner. Your explanation in less than 500 words…”
“Why won’t anyone sign the guestbook on my site??”

The games that stick in my memory the most were the two games with
Hillingdon Borough knowing that the winners would play Leeds. I sat
next to Don Revie in the first one. A very dissaponting result
was the game with Wimbledon when Eddie Reynolds headed all four goals.
I became very good friends with Eddie(real name Ivan) here in Toronto
until he passed away a couple of years ago. Eddie left me the
Wimbledon shirt he wore in that game. I off course forgave him for
ruining our day and presented him with a bottle of whiskey for
admitting that we played the better football that historic day.
I attended most matches home and away between l954 and l974 with my father.
We would catch the coach from the old Adult School.
I still follow the team with a passion and I sometimes come over to
watch a game or two. I came over to see the game with Notts County
and I had lunch in the directors lounge in Nottingham. Perhaps I
will go to the game at Rushden. I make the odd comment on the chat
line now and then although l do not know the current team. I often
phone in to get the final score although most of the time I am
following the progress of the game on the internet. I felt that
the best player we had was Mickey Mellows. Many years ago we had an
inside forward called Billy Robinson who won an England cap
against Scotland. Billy was also very talented.
Lets give a mention to Don Stoker who was also capped.
Finally some 40 years ago we had a wonderful little ball-boy........

First Away Game : V Welling United 16/10/88, drawing 1-1 and losing Lenny Dennis, Mickey Stephens and Arjan Van Sleighdrit all in one game!

Best game involving Sutton? Erm difficult one, but I can narrow it down

1) Wycombe FA Trophy 1993 first leg

2) Aylesbury away 1999

3) Middlesbrough 9/1/88

4) aldershot FA Cup Nov 17 1988

Favourite player of all time and why? Has to be Paul Mckinnon. Could sniff a goal from 50 yards, and I have never seen a better header of the ball, EVER. Those who never saw him between 1984-1988 really missed something.

Best team performance? the drubbing we gave Aldershot this season to give us the title. Best in a long time!

First Sutton Match? vs Aldershot FA Cup 1st Round 1988/89 3-0, what a storming introduction to the U's & I've never looked back !!

Best game involving Sutton? It has to be FA Cup 3rd Round 2-1 defeat of Coventry City (I've only just grown my finger nails back).

Favourite player of all time and why? Efan Ekoku, shear class and was playing well out if his depth in The Conference, his skill and the way he skinned players at that time sent shivers down the back of my spine. I used to work with three Wycombe Wanderers supporters and they were forever going on how good Wycombe were and being a U's fan I always sung our praises and in particular Efan's. I was therefore invited down to Wycombeá'ás ground, we won 3-2 and Efan scored one of the most unbelievable individual goals I have ever had the pleasure e to see and my mates ? All they could do was acknowledge me with a nod as if to say You were right !

Best team performance? Really a tough question, I will have to say even though I've seen 100's of games since Aldershot FA Cup 1st round 3-0 win, if Sutton would never of played the way that did that day then I would never of got hooked !

Best memory watching United? Some bird from the Shoe box Clan at the time at an away match at Wycombe getting her Boobs out ! Also can anyone remember (please email me if you can on HarryOnTheBoat@hotmail.com) an away game at Slough Town when Slough played without their regular goalkeeper and the replacement on that day was an absolute clown, couldn't kick the ball out and over emphasising his saves, he received a standing ovation that day from the Sutton fans (it helped we won 2-1, a couple of crackers from Stuart Barnes). I'm talking early 90's, it was absolutely hilarious !

Favourite goal this season? Steve Watson's winner at home to Purfleet

Favourite current player and why? Dave Harlow, in my opinion the un-sung hero of this championship winning side. Reminds me so much of Paul Rogers with his work rate.

Worst moment at a Sutton Match? Years ago when we beat Weymouth at home, I can't remember the exact score but we won 3 to something and I missed all 3 goals while queuing at the tea bar just right of the main stand. It was one of those occasions when I would be in the front of the queue and big cheer would go up and I would then relinquish my place to find out what happened and then return to the back of the queue when the elation was over. This happen three times as the Uá'ás decided to score all three goals in the space of 10 minutes.

First Sutton Match?

1971, Home to Dulwich Hamlet. We won 3-1, and 'Pritch' scored one of the goals. I was living in Catford and the journey involved three trains and one-and-a-half hours… Was it worth it..? Silly question..!

Worst memory watching United?

Mid seventies, missing about 10 Penalties on the trot (Does anybody know the full sorry sequence of events, or did I just dream this?)
Favourite goal this season?

Away at Hendon, Steve Watson bursts through umpteen defenders before crossing for Mark Watson to head in at the near post.
Favourite current player and why?

Nassim Akrour. When he gets the ball, you expect the unexpected.
Worst moment at a Sutton Match?

Early 70's, Five minutes to go and we were 2-0 up away to St Albans City. I start to move round the ground to the Exit… Final score St Albans City 4, Sutton United 2. I've never moved 'till the final whistle since..!
