World Air Games - World Class  ie Smyk

The 1st World Air Games were held in Turkey in September 1997.  The Games covered a wide range of aviation sports, including balloons, micro lights, acrobatics and gliding.  The World Class event was held at Inonu, Turkey and over 40 different Smyk gliders with pilots from over 20 countries were brought together, from all over the world. The rarest example was the one and only Indonesian Smyk "INA" - if you have a photo of this machine please contact me.

The top three finishers were as follows   - 1st World Class Championship

1st    Frederic Hoyeau of France ( F-CICB )

2nd   Julien Henry of France ( F-CICC )

3rd   Jesper Engstrom of Sweden ( SE-UPV )

The following three images from the 1 st World Air Games were sent to me by Mustafa Kabasakal of Turkey
