My Tripod Page
Welcome to my site dedicated to Portsmouth F.C

Welcome to my page dedicated to what in my opinion are the greatest team in Britain (well not in a literal sense, but they are in my eyes). I have been a fan for many years now and have been trying to see as many games as i can (i have a very little income so it takes a while to get the money)I'm sure many people who read this are not infact Pompey fans, and are just here to mock and ridicule us Pompey fans, but however i said i would devote my website to the things i love most however odd they are, so that is why i am making this page.Portsmouth F.C may not be reveared by all, but they are my and many other peoples home team. They are reknowned for their inconsistancy, however this does not deter the thousands of fans that regularly pack into Fratton park to cheer on the "mighty blues".

In this web page i hope to share some personal views aswell as recieve interaction from other fans. If you find anything in here that is perhaps slightly inaccurate please do not hesitate to contact me, by e mail or on one of the guestbooks.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Portsmouth F.C were created in 1898, with a home stadium of Fratton park. Portsmouths top scorer in a single season, was grabbed by the superb Guy Whittingham scoring an amazing 42 goals in a single season. Portsmouths overall top scorer was Peter Harris who got 193 goals inbetween the years 1946 and1960. Portsmouths current ground holds 19,179. Portsmouths highest accolades are winning the F.A cup once in 1939 aswell as being (old) division 1 champions twice in 1949/50 and 1948/49.

In recent years Portsmouth have been very eratic, combining last day promotion failiures, with last day relegation threats and long F.A cup runs to first round defeat. Prime examples of these succeses and failiures are the F.A cup semi final aginst Liverpool, in the early part of the 90's, where we were so disapointingly defeated, although in the 1997/98 campaign what looked to be an awful season was turned around as we narrowly avoided relegation in a superb away victory against Bradford, which securred another season of division one football.

My personal history

I began supporting Portsmouth during the 1992/93 promotion push, however my first game that i saw was Portsmouth v Blackburn in a cup match. Since that day i have enjoyed more and more football at Fratton park. My most memorable match was during the 98/99 campaign with Portsmouth v Grimsby, the match seemed almost irrelevant, as the fans attention was focused on the Portsmouth director at the time, Martin Gregory. It became more personally memorable at half time when there was a serge of emotion and there was a huge pitch invasion, of which i was undoubtedly involved, similar followed after the match. (the score was 1-0 Grimsby).

My personal knowledge may be slightly less than many others, but my enthusiasm for Portsmouth and this site is not. I do not claim to be any sort of genious or anything of that ilk, but i do have a hudge support for Portsmouth so i hope with a bit of research i can make this site an enjoyable and informative site for all pompey fans.
