The Sri Lankan Cultural and Sports Association of South
Wales, to give our association's full name, was formed in 1990 when a
group of families residing in or near Cardiff, Wales, UK, decided that
the small local Sri Lankan community would benefit from having a society
with a formal structure, having a constitution, an association bank
account, and elected office bearers to organise a regular programme of
social, sports and cultural activities. In the early years, we held
language classes, played several Cricket games each Summer, celebrated
the Sri Lankan New Year, and held an annual dinner-dance. We also
organised a Buddhist function and a Hindu function each year. By the
mid-90's, our Cricket enthusiasts decided to go their own way and form a
Sri Lankan Cricket Club, but they have maintained close links with our
association ever since. We welcome membership enquiries from people of Sri Lankan origin regardless of religious or ethnic background. We also welcome membership enquiries from non-Sri Lankans having a genuine interest in Sri Lanka and the welfare of its people. Our current office bearers are -
