FREDERICK (FRED, JIM) JAMES NEWHOOK

Frederick was born Sept.5, 1912. He was one of four in the first graduating class of teachers from Memorial University in 1950! He married Gwedolyn on June 7, 1941. Together they lived on Bell Island for 17 years before moving to St.John's. Frederick taught school for 43 years, and then served as principal at Blackall Memorial Elementary School, where I was a student from Kindergarden to grade 4. Frederick died June 6, 1999, in St.John's Newfoundland. His birthdate and historical information were obtained from personal correspondence with him and my grandmother, his wife, Gwen Newhook. The date of his passage is from personal correspondence with John & Linda Newhook, his children.
