Augie Colon has
been Martin Denny's Percussionist for three
years now. In
this album he is presenting the Puerto Rican boy
who came up
in the Hawaiian Islands the hard way. He learned
his music on
the street corners. This is not the polished Hollywood
latin much loved
by hotel orchestras...it is the music heard in the side
street bars.In
fact this is Colon, fierce and proud, a little savage, but
bursting with
a natural rhythmical talent.Call it what you may, here
is Colon, his
guiro, bongos, congas, boo bams ...........and his buddies.
