The Quest - Ren rescues an old man (his father) from a storm who tells him he's a prince and it’s his destiny to find the treasures of rule and save Mer. He is then kidnapped by a monkey-bird (sent by Bloth), who then realises he’s alive and therefore tries to kill him. Ren escapes (with the help of Niddler), finds the compass, the first Treasure of Rule, a ship and a crew. (Not bad..) Dishonor – To avoid Bloth Ren and co are forced to hide in the island of Atani. We are introduced to the less-honest aspects of Ioz and Tula when they steal scrolls and gold from their rescuers. We see Ren’s honerable side when he gives them back (and loses the compass and the first treasure in the process). Break-Up – We are introduced to the lethal nature of Darkwater. We also find out about the slavery of monkey birds. However they get separated; Ioz and Tula go after Konk and Ren and Tula obtain the compass and the first treasure back. However, they are then captured by Bloth. Betrayal – While in the depths of Bloth’s ship Ren meets, Avagon a woman who used to serve his father. Tula and Ioz eventually get the Treasure of Konk but Tula shows she has other agendas and takes both the compass and the treasure to Bloth. Victory - Ren Ren forgives Tula when he discovers why she berayed him and together the cause a revolt and free Ioz, getting back the treasures and the compass. Andorus – a ‘Tula episode’, some backstory. We see here homeland (Andorus) and (significantly) she becomes an ecomancer and helps Ren find the third treasure. A Drop of Darkness - Ren recovers the Fourth Treasure, and soon after, the heroes meet a woman who had a brief (but failed) romantic history with Ren's father; she attempts to relive her youth through him, literally restoring her youth to try and get back what she lost with King Primus through his son. However Darkwater isn’t the best thing to put in a potion. The Beast And The Bell - Ren receives a vision through the water of Primus, ordering him to journey to an island to ring a bell that he claims will get rid of all the Dark Water; Ren tries it, but ends up freeing one of the demons who started the scourge of Dark Water, and learning about the origins and history of the Year of the Black Tide. Panacea - The heroes journey to the island of Myragon in search of the Fifth Treasure of Rule, coming across a biotransmuter named Slagon and using one of his "healed" creatures, a half-furry, half-fishy creature named Roulette, as their guide. However, Slagon has no problems with switching sides if the price is right. King Niddler - Ren, Ioz, Tula, Niddler (disgusted by being ordered around so much because of his wings), and Konk (in pursuit) journey to an island surrounded by a strange, acidic fog, where the Sixth Treasure of Rule is located, and come across a species of wingless monkey-birds that believe Niddler is their king because of his wings. The Collection - Ioz runs into old foes when the crew's resting in Janda-town, and they get into an argument over a treasure map; they all come into contact with a wizard who shrinks ships and transports them into bottles in his lab, where he can steal their treasures for himself (after restoring the gold to its true size). The Little Leviathan - When hiding from the Maelstrom in a cove, the crew comes across a baby leviathan separated from its herd and trapped in a patch of Dark Water (their skin's resistant to Dark Water); it and Ren take a liking to each other, much to the amusement and chagrin of Ren's friends, but it also assists in recovering the Seventh Treasure of Rule. The Dark Dweller - A celebration of reaching the halfway point of the Quest is interrupted by the Maelstrom; when Bloth gives chase, Tula falls into the Dark Water and the others are held captive on the Maelstrom; Ren finds out she's alive and goes into the den of the Dark Dweller with Niddler to save her, and the heroes win a battle against the Dark Water. The Dark Disciples - For the first time since leaving, Ren returns with his friends to his homeland of Octopon to find it in ruins; they then come across the Dark Disciples, their half-human leader Morpho, and the failing resistance against them, which includes Ren's guardian Jenna--the situation climaxes to a major confrontation, but when all seems lost, the Treasures strike a very decisive victory. The Ghost Pirates - The crew comes across a ghost ship, which Ioz heard is rumored to carry a bountiful treasure; he gets captured by the ghost pirates because their captain, a spirit woman named Cressa, has taken quite a liking to him--Ren, Tula, and Niddler have to free him before the moonrise, at which point Ioz will become a ghost forever. The Dagron Master - During a terrible storm, Ren and Niddler are washed overboard, and come to an island where a man, telling Ren there's a Treasure on the island, turns him into a dagron by use of a magical cloak; Ioz and Tula discover the island, conveniently timed with a visit by Bloth and the Maelstrom. The Game Players of Undaar - During a usual Maelstrom-Wraith chase, the ships are captured, and Ren and Bloth are brought forward and issued an ultimatum by two froglike Game Players: they must work together to beat the Game Players' game, and if they win, they'll be set free: if they refuse or lose, they and their friends will die. The Pandawa Plague - When stopping over in Octopon, Ren sees the monkey-bird queen drowning and goes to save her; she informs them of a monkey-bird plague turning the monkey-birds of Pandawa against them, and when Ren and Niddler go to investigate, they find out it's an artificial plague spread via minga-melons as part of a plot to find the egg of the future queen. Sister of the Sword - During a stopover in a port city, Ren runs into a fiesty thief of a girl who ends up being Ioz's younger sister Solia, who has a very blatant crush on Ren; this episode elaborates on Ioz's mysterious background a bit, and serves to demonstrate that Ioz's thieving habits are indeed hereditary. The Soul Stealer - Bloth consults a personal soothsayer, who tells him that the best way to get the Treasures is to become Ren; Bloth has Morpho concoct a body-switching potion, which he successfully uses on Ren and Bloth, as well as on Niddler and Konk--they switch bodies, but it's not quite that easy.
The
Living Treasure - After a
long period of no luck with locating the Eighth Treasure, the crew's
luck changes, and they find it--in the shape of a living being, a little
blue furry creature--on an island of vicious, man-hating Amazon-like
warrior women that take Ren and Ioz captive but allow Tula to join their
ranks. |
