The Standing of Dhikr Characteristics of the Ahlus Dhikr The Best Wealth

The Standing of Dhikr

My dear Brothers in Islam, we live today in a world where we see all around us in every direction a lot uncertainty and deception. There is not one country, one city, town, and village, or furthermore, not even one household in which we can find solitude. Instead we find unrest and conflict. We are living in a time where every individual is the victim of unrest and uncertainty.

Come my dear ignorant human who resides in gatherings of alcohol, goes to the cinema, immersed in the night life culture of society. You pursue demeaning pursuits with the desire that you fill find peace, solitude and a sense of satisfaction. But ultimately, where will you find peace? (or that for which you yearn)

For a solution, let us turn to the Holy Quran al-Karim, pose this question to it, the Noble and Most Sanctified Word of Allah the Exalted. It is indeed you O Noble Quran that can provide us with the guidance that we seek to address our problem and to ultimately tell us where we can find peace. When we presented our plea to the Holy Quran al-Karim, in return we received this answer:

الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللّهِ أَلاَ بِذِكْرِ اللّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ

Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction ” (Surah 13 Ar-Rad , Verse 28)

So we see that uncertainty, unrest, disillusionment is due to the neglect of the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. Undoubtedly, the Dhikr of Allah the Exalted is the food, the sustenance of the heart and soul. So it logically follows, if the heart is not given its sustenance then, if it is not full of unrest; what else would its state be? This is the root cause, as stated above, for the uncertainty; problems all indeed stemming from the neglect of our duty of remembering Allah the Exalted.

The Blessings of Dhikr

The meaning or the accepted understanding of Dhikr is remembering something again and again with regularity. Ergo, bringing upon the tongue the blessed name of Allah the Exalted, praising His Sublime Majesty and singing His Hamd is Dhikrullah! Moreover the method of remembrance advocated, taught and transmitted to us from the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), remembering Allah the Exalted in accordance with this Prophetic method is in actuality what we call the remembrance of Allah the Exalted.

Verily with the constant remembrance of Allah the Exalted, one’s state of belief is rejuvenated and one is bestowed with istikama (steadfastness) in his actions.

It is therefore in light of the observation we have presented, imperative for every Muslim, man or woman, young or old to be immersed in Dhikr. The actual purpose of this human life is to be in constant remembrance of Allah the Exalted! Furthermore, it is the soul of the act of devotionally observing Allah the Exalted. Thus in order to obtain this and further to nourish the soul, it is mandatory and of the utmost importance one engage in the act of Dhikr.

So we learn from this, in summation, all acts of worship and their purpose is in essence the remembrance of Allah the Exalted.

Illustrating the above-stated, the first obligatory duty upon us is our Salaat and the said purpose of Salaat is indeed that we start and continue the Dhikr of Allah the Exalted in consistency and with regularity. Similarly, the recitation of the Holy Quran al-Karim is a very highly esteemed act of worship for the very reason that it is the Word of Allah the Exalted and contained within it is the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. Whenever one recites the Noble Quran, he is refreshing the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. The observance of the Fast, within the prescribed time of the fast, one controls his inner desires for the very purpose that one is drawn towards the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. The fast produces within the human heart and inner-self purity and makes the heart capable of capturing the remembrance of Allah the Exalted and become the controlling force. This is so, for when the heart is immersed in pursuing carnal desires it is difficult for it to grapple and take hold of the remembrance of Allah the Exalted with consistency. Similarly the performance of the Sacred Hajj and presenting yourself at the Haramain is the remembrance of Allah the Exalted

In conclusion from the above-mentioned it is highly apparent that all the acts of devotion and worship in one form or another are in essence the remembrance of Allah the Exalted and we see it coming to the fore.

The Declaration of Faith, the Kalimah Sharif “La’i’laha il’lAllah” is remembrance of Allah the Exalted, for declaring that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, Most High and Exalted is He, is the remembrance of Him. All the worship apart from the Kalimah Sharif is indeed testifying to that very Blessed and Sacred Declaration. For verily Dhikr is such a special secret comprising of divine components, one engaged in it will extinguish every type of dirt and filth. Furthermore, Dhikr makes man, in reality, capable of travelling the Path, upon which when it is traversed, removes the veils between the slave and His Lord. The result being that Allah the Exalted becomes pleased with his man in every way. Thus when Allah the Exalted is pleased with his servant, then He the Exalted blesses his servant in the deen and duniya, elevating his name and rank. We see that this is the purpose of living and existing, hence being immersed in Dhikr is the supreme level of existence.

Dhikr is the Light

Dhikr is the light of the heart and eyes. Dhikr is the means with which one can obtain the happiness and pleasure of his Lord, Mighty and Majestic is He. Dhikr is the state of the Muslim. Dhikr is the pleading of the heart and is its peace. Dhikr is the drive of the hearts of the lovers; Dhikr is the state of Belief. Dhikr is the Sanctuary of the love of Allah the Exalted, Dhikr is the Soul of Islam. Dhikr is the means by which one attains the nearness of Allah the Exalted. Dhikr is the helper of grief, Dhikr is the elixir, the remedy for sins and disobedience, Dhikr revives the dead heart, bringing it from the state of death to a state of life. Dhikr is the light in the grave.

Dhikr is the ailment for the maladies of the heart. Dhikr directs one to the path leading to Heaven; Dhikr is the means for acquiring the friendship of Allah the Exalted. Dhikr is the means of salvation. Dhikr is the seal of humanity, Dhikr is the fire of true love, and Dhikr is that which the beggar seeks. Dhikr is the anthem of the present time, Dhikr is the perfume of life, and Dhikr is the voice of the heart and eyes. Dhikr is the tune of spring, when the birds praise the coming of spring, Dhikr is the first of the Orchids of Paradise. Dhikr is the liquor of (the knowledge and nearness to Allah the Exalted) Marifah. Dhikr is the taste of the pre-dawn meal, Dhikr is the purpose of humanity i.e. worship, Dhikr is the state of being lost in the desire for the Divine. In short Dhikr is such a wealth that once it is held onto man becomes in need of nothing else!

Ahadeeth on Dhikr

There is a great quantity of Hadeeth Literature upon the point of Dhikrullah, the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. Within this extensive collection, it has been again and again emphasised that one must keep up the practise of Dhikr in every circumstance. Because in keeping up the remembrance of Allah the Exalted man will gain everlasting success and eternal salvation, it is necessary to bring to the fore a few Hadeeth upon the point of Dhikr, for us to gain an understanding.

KEEP YOUR TONGUE MOIST WITH THE REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH THE EXALTED

Hazrat Abd’ullah bin Bar (radiy’Allahu-anhu) (Allah be well pleased with him) narrates an individual came to the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) and asked them:

“Ya Rasoolallah, there are imposed upon me many duties and obligations within Islam. Please can you inform me of such a practice which I should always act upon. They (SAW) replied “Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah the Exalted, always!” (Tirmidhi

It is incumbent upon every Muslim to observe all the Rulings of Shari’a but the act of Dhikr is such an observance which can be observed at every instance. In carrying out other worldly obligations, one can keep his heart and tongue busy in the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. It is for this reason the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated that one should keep his tongue moist in the remembrance of the Divine. Furthermore, ones attention is diverted form lesser matters to the matter of actual importance, which is being vigilant of Allah the Exalted. Ergo, every Muslim should attempt to act upon this Prophetic command, in accordance with ones ability.

MEHFIL E DHIKR, THE GARDENS (ORCHIDS) OF PARADISE

A narration from the Hazrat Anas (Allah be well pleased with him) reporting the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

“When you pass the orchids/gardens of paradise, then indeed take as much as you can”. The Sahaba (Allah be well pleased with them) inquired as to what are the said gardens of Paradise. He (SAW) replied “The Circles (associations) of Dhikr” (Tirmidhi

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said the circles of Dhikr are the gardens of Paradise. The wisdom stemming from the Hadeeth is: when one passes by the gathering of Dhikr then he should involve himself in it. It is to say that he should participate in the sacred gatherings. The pious Awliyah and Saliheen with regularity used to participate in the gatherings of Dhikr.

To sit in the Sohba (company) of these pious men of Allah the Exalted and to recite the Dhikr of Allah the Exalted is indeed a great and commendable action. Furthermore, for one to establish the gatherings of Dhikr, is indeed an action of the highest merit and reward.

Ja’bar bin Abd’ullah (Allah be well pleased with him) states that the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace) left their house and came towards us, he (SAW) said:

“O people! Obtain what you want (graze there in) from Riad ul Jannah” so we inquired “Ya Rasoolallah SAW, what is Riad ul Jannah?” he (SAW) replied “The gatherings of Dhikr!”

Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah (Allah be well pleased with him) once went into the bazaar and declared “O people! I see you here going about your business, whilst in the Masjid the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) are distributing the pearls of Divine Blessings.” (The Prophetic Pearls) The people left their business or whatever their preoccupation was and headed towards the Masjid. Upon reaching it, they saw that nothing was being distributed. Upon this juncture, they questioned Abu Hu’rai’rah that they saw nothing in the Masjid, in response He asked “What did you see?” The people replied “We saw a congregation that was immersed in the Dhikr of Allah the Exalted and were also reading the Holy Quran al-Karim”. Abu Hu’rai’rah replied “These very things which you speak of are the Prophetic pearls I spoke of!”

REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH THE EXALTED IS THE MEANS OF SALVATION FROM THE ETERNAL PUNISHMENT

Harat Ma’az bin Jabl (Allah be well pleased with him) narrates:

There is no deed of the son of Adam Alay’hi’Salaam which saves it from the punishment except the deed which is the remembrance of Allah the Exalted (Malik, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah

Relief from Punishment in the Hereafter is dependent upon the nature of the deeds of the individual, these deeds vary in terms of their standing, but from these the highest and best action is that of Dhikrullah!

In another narration on the authority of Hazrat Ayi’sha (Allah be well pleased with her) we are informed the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“Silent Dhikr, which the angels Kiraman Katibeen cannot even listen to, is exalted in rank by 70 times. On the day of Gathering when all will be gathered to be bought to account, the angels will bring forth the deeds of every person, Allah the Exalted will ask the angels ‘Are there any actions that have not been accounted for?’ The angels will reply ‘Every action was carefully documented and has thus been presented, so No nothing is missing.’ Allah the Exalted will say ‘There is one action of which you had no knowledge of, that is the silent Dhikr”. (Abu Yay’lee)

On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah the Almighty said:

I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.

(1)   Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: "I am as My servant expects Me to be". The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with right action would be to mock the Almighty.

It was related by al-Buhkari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah).

Characteristics of the Ahlus Dhikr (people of remembrance)

Hazrat Abd’ur Rahman bin Sahl bin Hanif (Allah be well pleased with him), it is narrated from them, when the blessed Verse “Was bir nafsa ka”

“Keep your soul content by keeping yourself familiar with those who call upon their lord morning and evening, seeking his pleasure, seeking his face and let not your eyes pass beyond them, seeking the adornments and glitter of this world, follow not (the ill-fated) one whose heart we have made neglect our remembrance and he follows his own vain desires, whose case has gone past all limits.”

 (Surah 18 Al-Khaf: Verse 28)

was revealed to the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace). Upon the revelation of this Verse, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) went in search of the people who were mentioned in the Verse, he (SAW) found a congregation that was busy in the remembrance of Allah the Exalted. Some of those individuals possessed only one piece of cloth, others were scant in appearance (appeared poor, of little means). When he (SAW) saw them, He sat amongst them, proclaiming:

“Praise be to Allah the Exalted alone, who has created people amongst my Ummah, the likes of whom I have been commanded to go and sit (and keep company) with.” (Tabrani

Verily within this blessed Verse the identity and characteristics of the elect men of Allah the Exalted have been mentioned. Shedding further light on the nature of their characteristic traits, they are immersed in the Dhikr of Allah the Exalted and due to them being is such a state, their hair has become dry and weak. Their state of Restraint, Taqwa and Purity is such that for them one garment (cloth) suffices and that they are not wasteful. The Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace) preferred such people and said that the company of such people should be sought

The special mention of the Ahlus Dhikr

For the Ahlus Dhikr, Allah the Exalted mentions them in the gatherings of angels, it is narrated from Abu Sa’eed (Allah be well pleased with him) that Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah (Allah be well pleased with him) saw some people sitting in the Masjid and enquired of them as to why they were gathered. The people replied “We are here solely for the remembrance of Allah the Exalted”, Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah asked them further, “Indeed is this, by the Grace of Allah the Exalted, the purpose of you being here?” The people replied, “It is for this very reason!” Hazrat Amir Mu’awiyah responded “I did not inquire about this, as to suspect you, but for the reason of what I saw in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ! (Allah bless him and give him peace)”

He (SAW) went to a gathering of people and inquired of them as to why they were gathered as such. The people replied to (SAW) “We are gathered to remember and praise Allah the Exalted, for He the Exalted has bestowed us with guidance and blessed us” the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace) enquired “For this reason you have gathered?” the people replied “Yes”. He (SAW)  said “I enquired as to your purpose for gathering as Jibra’eel Alay’hi’Salaam has come and informed me that Allah the Exalted has praised (with a sense of pride as in adulation) you amongst the angels” (Muslim)

This Hadeeth Sharif tells us that in praising Allah the Exalted, then He the Exalted praises us in the gatherings of the angels. We are informed of a happening related to our Great-Grand Shaykh, Sultan of the Awliyah, Blessing of Blessings, Hazrat Khawajah Ash-Shaykh Al-Hafiz Muhammad Abd’ul Karim (May Allah be satisfied with him and may He allow us to benefit from his secrets and knowledge).

They narrated an utterance of the Shuyukh: “We know when our Lord Mighty and Majestic is He remembers us”, seated within the gathering were many Ulema who were baffled and questioned “How is this so, that you are aware of when Allah the Exalted remembers, to make such a claim is preposterous!” The Noble Shaykh replied “Have you not read the Holy Quran al-Karim, Allah the Exalted proclaims “So remember Me; I shall remember you, and keep giving due thanks unto Me, and be not ungrateful to Me.” (Surah 2 Al-Baqarah, Verse 152)”

Hazrat Suliman Darani informs us that Jannah has the likeness of the soil of the Earth, when a Dhakir (on who remembers Allah the Exalted) begins to praise Him the Exalted, the angels plant trees for him. Whenever an angel stops, the other angels ask him “Why have you stopped?” The angel answers “The one for whom I was planting has become neglectful in his praise!”

IN RETURN FOR DHIKR

Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah (Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

“Allah the Exalted stated “I am how my believers perceives me to be.”: when he remembers Me then I am with him, if he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him in the heart, and if he remembers Me in a gathering then I remember him in a gathering greater then that! (Bukhari

In this Hadeeth Qudsi, Allah the Exalted has stated that I am closer to man then his thoughts in relation to the thoughts that he keeps of Him the Exalted. For instance, if the believer perceives Allah the Exalted to forgive all of his sins, then He the Exalted will absolve him, in similar fashion if one perceives Allah the Exalted to accept and answer his prayers then verily He the Exalted will answer his prayers. In short how the believer perceives Allah the Exalted then he will find Him the Exalted in that manner, as illustrated. Hence it is apparent that when the believer does Dhikr then Allah the Exalted is with him; so when one remembers Allah the Exalted in his heart He to remembers him in that fashion. Allah the Exalted has stated as we have seen that when my slave remembers Me in a congregation of Dhikr then I to remember him in a gathering greater in the presence of the angels!

Hazrat Nuri (Allah be well pleased with him) has stated “I questioned Hazrat Dhul-Nun (Allah be well pleased with him) in relation to Dhikr”. Dhul-Nun (Allah be well pleased with him) responded “Dhikr is that the dhakir becomes so immersed in the remembrance of the Divine that he has no recollection of anything else except that Dhikr!” Then he recited the following:

“I remember you constantly! (I do your Dhikr constantly)

Not for the reason that I may forget You!

But for the reason that my tongue (it does not remember nor is used for any other purpose)

It is only used to do your Dhikr!”

AHLUS DHIKR ARE THE MOST INTELLIGENT

Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah has narrated the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“On the Day of Judgment, a Voice will proclaim ‘Where are those who are intelligent?’ The people will begin to question as to who are the ones being summoned. In response it will be relayed to them, ‘Those who remembered their Lord standing, sitting and lying down; and they used to observe the creation and ponder “Oh Allah the Exalted You have not created anything without a purpose, we do Your Tasbih, please save us from the Hellfire!” for these people there will be a flag (banner) created under which they will gather, it will be said to them “Enter Jannah for eternity” (Tar’ghib

Dhikrullah is the sign and evidence of intelligence and in the next life this will be of benefit!

Shaykh Abu Abd’ur Rahman Sulami asked his teacher Shaykh Abu Ali Daqqaq “Which is of greater importance, Dhikr or Fikr?” their teacher asked them “Which do you take to be of importance?” Shaykh Abu Abd’ur Rahman answered “In my understanding, Dhikr is superior to Fikr, as within Dhikr the Sifat (Qualities) of Allah the Exalted are mentioned and praised but not within Fikr. Therefore that which is used to count the Greatness of Allah the Exalted will be greater then that which is used to count for the needs of man. ” Abu Ali was pleased with this response.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“One pious gathering for the believer is the Kaffarah (expiation) of 200,000 bad gatherings.”

Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah has stated “The inhabitants of the heavens prefer those houses within which Dhikrullah takes place; they view them as you view the stars”

THE BEST WEALTH IS THE TONGUE WHICH REMAINS MOIST IN THE REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH THE EXALTED

Hazrat Su’baan (Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that when the verse “Wall la zee’na yuk’nee zu’ naza’ha’ba wal’fida’ta” was revealed we were travelling with the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace).

“.... And those who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the Way of Allah. proclaim to them the glad-tidings of a painful torment” (Surah At-Tawba, Verse 34)

Upon this occasion some Sahaba (Allah be well pleased with them) stated:

“The Verse has been revealed in relation to gold and silver, so if we knew which goods were of a greater quality then we would have purchased those” At which the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated “The best wealth is the tongue which remains moist in the remembrance of Allah the Exalted and the heart which thanks Allah the Exalted and the wife of the Muslim who assists him in his beliefs (religion).” (Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah

This Hadeeth Sharif mentions three commodities which are the best of wealth, by equipping yourself with these, then ones end is straightened.

First is the tongue, it becomes straightened by leaving gossip and busying it in the remembrance of Allah the Exalted.

From Mu'adh bin Jabal, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said: I said:

"O Messenger of Allah, tell me of a deed which will take me into Paradise and will keep me away from the Hell-fire." He said: "You have asked me about a great matter, yet it is, indeed, an easy matter for him to whom Allah Almighty makes it easy. (It is ) that you worship Allah without associating anything with Him, that you perform the prayers, that you pay the zakat, that you fast during Ramadan, and that you make the pilgrimage to the House."

Then he said: "Shall I not guide you to the gates of goodness? Fasting is a shield; charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire; and a man's prayer in the middle of the night." Then he recited: "Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them. No soul knoweth what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do". [Qu'ran, Surah al-Sajdah (32): Ayah 16-17]

Then he said: "Shall I not also tell you of the peak of the matter, its pillar, and its topmost part?" I said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "The peak of the matter is Islam (submission to Allah), the pillar is prayer; and its topmost part is jihad." Then he said: "And shall I not tell you of the controlling of all that ?" I said:" Yes, O Messenger of Allah". So he took hold of his tongue and said: "Restrain this." I said: "O Prophet of Allah, will we be held accountable for what we say?" He said: "May your mother be bereft of you! Is there anything that topples people on their faces (or he said, on their noses) into the Hell-fire other than the jests of their tongues?"

[Related by Al-Tirmidhi, who said it was a fine and sound hadith]

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said : The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said :

"Part of the perfection of someone's Islam is his leaving alone that which does not concern him."

[Hadith hasan - Recorded by Tirmidhi]

Second is the heart, it is straightened by thanking Allah the Exalted for what He has given.

Third is a pious wife, by whose assistance man acquires steadfastness in his belief.

THE STATION OF THE DHAKIREEN ON THE SURFACE OF HASHR

Hazrat Abi Darda narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“On Yawm ul Qiyamah Allah, Glorified is He, will deal with a community in the following way. Their faces will be gleaming with light; they will be sitting on pulpits of pearl, people when seeing this will yearn for them. They will not the Ambiyah nor Shuhada.” Someone asked “Please Ya Rasoolallah tell us of their state, so we may be able to identify them” He (SAW) replied “They will be those people from different regions and families; who in the Love of Allah the Exalted, gathered in one place and recited (busying themselves in) the Dhikr of Allah the Exalted” (Tabrani)

Amongst humanity the highest station is that of Messengership, this station has been given to those who Allah the Exalted selected from amongst His creation. Similarly, the station of a Martyr is worthy of respect and praise. However, some people on that Day will be bestowed a station even though they are neither Prophets nor Martyrs and accorded the same level of adulation. The reason for this, as mentioned in the cited Hadeeth, these people will the three traits mentioned by the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace).

The first attribute, that they Love Allah the Exalted.

Secondly, in the Love for Allah the Exalted they, travelling from far and near, gather at one place.

Thirdly, that they remain busy in the remembrance of Allah the Exalted.

Upon the presence of these three traits Allah the Exalted will bless them that people on that Day will be amazed.

ONE WHO RECITES LA’I’LAHA IL’LALLAH WILL HAVE ALL SINS FORGIVEN

Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah narrates that the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace) proclaimed:

“The individual recites La’i’laha il’lAllah with a pure heart (reciting not reciting as a formality) will not have any sins left to the equivalence of an atom.”

If you have the weight of the universe on one side and the weight of La’i’laha il’lAllah on the other; the Kalimah Sharif will be the heaviest.

THE SCALE OF LA’I’LAHA IL’LALLAH WILL BE THE HEAVIEST

Hazrat Abd’ullah bin Umar (Allah be well pleased with him) narrates:

“If the entire weight of the seven Heavens and Earths as placed on one side of the scales and La’i’laha il’lAllah on the other side, its side will be the most weighty (of the Kalimah Sharif).”

UTTERING LA’I’LAHA IL’LALLAHU OPENS THE DOORS OF THE HEAVENS

If one recites with sincerity the Kalimah Sharif, its utterance is elevated to the Arsh. What is more in a narration from Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah (Allah be well pleased with him) the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“Anyone who recites with sincerity this Kalimah, La’i’laha il’lAllah, then for him the doors of the heavens are opened. Beyond this, he will reach the Arsh if he restraints himself from the major sins” (Nisai, Tirmidhi, Hakim

BLESSING UPON BLESSING

On one occasion we are told that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) were delivering a Sermon, when an Arab came into there presence and lamented:

“Ya Rasoolallah I am very sinful.” After the Sermon, he (SAW) asked the Arab “Are your sins greater in number then the stars?” he replied “Yes” he (SAW) then inquired “Are your sins greater in number then the raindrops?” again the Arab answered “Yes”. He (SAW) asked him further “Are your sins greater in number then the leaves on the trees?”, he again replied in the affirmative; the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace) asked the Arab “Are your sins greater then the Rahma Mercy of Allah the Exalted?” To this question the Arab remained silent, Rasoolallah consoled him “Recite La’i’laha il’lAllah, Allah the Exalted will forgive all of your sins!” (Aneesul Wa’ezeen)

Revive YOUR IMAN

Recite with regularity La’i’laha il’lAllah: this will revitalise your state of belief!

We can see from following: Hazrat Abu Hu’rai’rah narrates the Messenger of Allah  (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“Rejuvenate your Iman” the Ashab e Kiram asked “Ya Rasoolallah, how can we rejuvenate our Iman?” He SAW answered “Recite with regularity La’i’laha il’lAllah” (Tabrani

REWARD UPON REWARD

Recite La’i’laha il’lAllah and Allahu Akbar, accumulate double reward!

Hazrat Mu’adh (Allah be well pleased with him) has narrated the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) to have said:

“La’i’laha il’lAllah and Allahu Akbar, these are two esteemed Words, one (that is La’i’laha il’lAllah) has no limits from here to the Arsh, and the other (that is Allahu Akbar) fills the skies and the earth!” (Tabrani)

FREEDOM FROM THE FIRE

The one who recites of the Declaration of Faith (Kalimah Sha’hada) will be freed from the Fire. We see on the authority of Uba’dah bin Samaat (Allah be well pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) stated:

“Any individual who recites with sincerity this Kalimah and bears witness to it, Allah the Exalted will make the Hellfire haram (forbidden) on him” (Muslim, Tirmidhi)

Recital of a few hours in seconds

Hazrat Ummul Mu’mineen Ju’riyah binti Harith (Allah be well pleased with her) narrates, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) left me early in the morning; He (SAW) went to perform Salaat al-Fajar.
