Fun domains

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Do you want to be special?
Do you want to be different?

If the answer is yes, then you will definitely be interested in the newest feature by Tripod.

Fun domains allows you to register your Tripod website with a fun domain of your choice, yes that’s right! a fun domain of your choice.

Unbelievable isn’t it?

The domain for which you decide for can be now chosen while registering your Tripod account.

First comes first serves … be quick and get the best sitenames before somebody else take it away.

The options are the following:

  1. 1. You can stick to the classical version - http://members.lycos.co.uk/username/
  2. or

  3. 2. You can choose your own fun domain such as:
  4. http://your_username.makesboyscrazy.co.uk
    or
    http://your_username.thewomanizer.co.uk

and many more

If there is a fun domain you would like that is not in our list, you can also send us your proposal, and maybe in the very near future, your idea will become the next fun domain.

Note: Because of technical reasons we are not able to convert already registered user accounts to ones with the new fundomains.

Tripod Memberpages faster and PHP Memory Limit increased

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Like promised by us, we will continue to improve Tripod more and more. Our test cases show that the execution time of PHP scripts cut in half, after the successful migration of Tripod to new servers. The mySQL Databases are faster and more stable, too.

Further we have increased the memory limit of PHP to 16MB. That means, that problems with PHP scripts that consumes more than 8MB during execution should work without problems, now.

We wish you much fun with Tripod and your sites.

Tripod is moving!

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

To improve the performance for our customers, we are moving the servers and your databases.

For this reason it can lead to isolated issues between Monday the 17th of march and the following days. Within these times you will also not be able to make any changes to your website.

Also our services will be completely switched off on Monday the 17th of march from 23:00 to guarantee an easy move, with no loss of data.

We therefore apologise for any inconvenience this could cause.

We hope to improve the stability of our servers and data banks with this move and hope that this also lies in your interest.

Just to be sure, we recommend to each of our customers to do a Backup of his site. What is a Backup, or how one provides one, you learn in our service Blog or directly at the following address: http://members.lycos.co.uk/servicebloguk/wordpress/?p=3

Should you find any mistakes within your website after the move, please report them to us within our bug report.

Thank you very much!

Best Regards

data centre move

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

The planned and already communicated data centre move with our Tripod-Servers is delayed for indefinitely time due possible technical problems.
So that the data centre move will not be done in this year (2007).
As soon as we have an exactly date, we will report you this on this way, to inform you timely.
