Born on Sept. 10, 1974 in New Castle,
Delaware, Ryan Phillippe never considered acting until it was suggested
to him by a stranger in a local barber shop. His first gig was on the daytime
soap One Life to Live where he won acclaim and offers to appear in larger
roles. From there he had a small part in 1995's Crimson Tide and won praise
in the sailing movie White Squall. Phillippe's big break came in the horror
flick I Know What You Did Last Summer. From there, Phillippe attempted
to shed his teen heartthrob image by appearing in such movies as 54, but
the effort failed and his hunk image had only grown by the time he played
opposite real-life wife Reese Witherspoon in Cruel Intentions.
