By no means a definitive list, some of the key dates in the contruction of the Runcorn Busway are given below:
| 10/4/64 | Runcorn Designated New Town, with the committee appointed on 30/4/64 |
| 04/67 | Finalised Master Plan published in April 1967 (Click here to view the details from the Master Plan about the Busway) |
| 1970 | The Ministry of Transport gives a grant of 75% of the £2.55 million contruction cost of the initial Busway, using powers granted under the Transport Act 1968. This was the first infrastructure project to receive such a grant. |
| 14/10/71 | First construction phase complete, services T1-4 start (Click here for details of these services as presented in a 1973 leaflet) |
| 29/10/71 | Official opening - for full details including the chairman's speech, click here.![]() |
| 4/11/71 | Shopping City opened, Busway services diverted to the Shopping City bus station from the previous temporary stops |
| 10/1/72 | The regional (downstairs) bus station opens, later than planned! |
| 22/5/77 | Phase two Busway opening. Construction on the Busway is now complete, with the full loop out towards Norton and Runcorn east in operation. Service network recast as T1-12 accordingly. |
| 22/11/81 | Major service revision brought into place following the opening of the South Bus station at Shopping City. A large amount of inter-working of services was introduced (allowing very little turnaround time on many routes) to try and imporove efficiency and help the finances of the network. More details to follow in the future. |
