POEM OF THE MONTH
PARADISE
I don't think I shall go again to paradise
True, flowers were bright -their perfume always sweet
The sun gave constant beaming
The grass forever greening
But Paradise for me was just too neat.

I didn't miss the greed, the sleaze, the selfishness
Those human faults that dwell here hand in hand
But all that friendly smiling
Got less and less beguiling
Dare I say that Paradise was somewhat bland?

No one ever falls in love in Paradise
As everyone loves everybody else
I wouldn't knock the caring
But when it comes to sharing
If I've a man, I want him to myself.

The pleasure I missed most of all in Paradise
Was the feeling that release from tension brings
No tension - no release
No war - how value peace
For honey we must have the bee that stings.

I'm glad I had the chance to visit Paradise
Although it wasn't all it's said to be
I wanted much more laughter
Less happy ever after
I have to say it - Paradise ain't me.
