Turku Trophy 2003. The first Finnish gymwheel competitions took place in Turku on Saturday Nov 15th 2003. All in all 16 junior gymnasts took part in the competition in four categories: vault, straight line "beginners", straight line competition category L9 and pairs. The results can be seen on the results page.

OCT 13th 2003

Turku Trophy 2003. The first Finnish wheel gymnastics competition will take place on Nov 15th 2003 in Turku. While giving the junior gymnasts an opportunity to compete in individual, pair and team diciplines, the competition also serves as unofficial Finnish championships. The gymnasts will compete in straight line and vault diciplines only, since no possibility for spiral training has yet arised. There will also be a possibility to perform level tests during the competition.

The international camp 2004. The invitations are being prepared and will be ready to be sent in October 2003. Information about the camp and registration will be published on these pages in November.

DEC 16th 2002

The next international camp in 2004 will be held in Turku, Finland! The decision was made by the International Rhönrad Association earlier this year. The international camp are held every two years, last time this year in Valencia, Spain, where over 300 gymnasts and coaches met for 8 days. Gymnasts of all ages and levels are welcome to the camp! More information about the camp 2004 will be coming up on these pages during this winter. 

The big European gymnastics event for young people, Eurogym, will be held in Jyväskylä, Finland in the beginning of July 2004. Representatives of wheel gymnastics in Finland have also been invited. At least from Turku there will be some coaches and a show group participating. More information about Eurogym will be coming up on these pages later this winter. 

Wheel gymnastics will not be official next year. The competition rules are still being checked by the competition committee of Finnish Gymnastics Federation. This means that the issue will not become actual before next annual autumn meeting in 2003.

RHÖNRAD BECOMES OFFICIAL?

Turun Rhönradvoimistelijat have applied that wheel gymnastics be made official within Finlands Gymnastics Federation. The autumn meeting in which the matter is decided will be held on Nov 11th 2002. As an official sport, we will be able to better promote wheel gymnastics in Finland: it gives us possibility to organise official national championships, for example. 

ALMOST 50 WHEEL GYMNASTS IN TURKU

This autumn the number of wheel gymnasts in Turku is 47. Because of the rising number of gymnasts, the existing number of wheels is inadequate. Our club will decide about purchasing new wheel(s) in our autumn meeting on Oct 25th. Purchasing of at least one new wheel (195 cm) is on the agenda. 

NEWS FROM TURKU, SPRING 2002

There are 9 participants from Finland to IRV:s international training camp this summer, which is the largest number ever! The camp will be held in Valencia, Spain in July 21st-30th. Before the camp (July 16th-29th), we will organise our own "minicamp" in Turku to all interested, also beginners and coaches. Invitation (in Finnish) can be found here.

Wheel gymnasts in Turku have founded a club of their own: Turun rhönradvoimistelijat ry. (=Turku rhönrad gymnasts). The registration of the club is not valid yet but the registration should be accepted officially before summer 2002. In future, these pages will mainly be information pages for our club, but we will also inform about the biggest rhönrad events in other clubs and all over the world.
