What is CPR ?
CardioPulmonary Resuscitation
is the basic life support measure applied when a person`s heart
& lung actions have stopped.

What it does ?
It artificaly oxygenates and circulates
blood in a person when their natural heart action & breathing have
stopped. This is accomplished by providing chest compressions & ventilations.

When you take
a course in CPR you will be in a better postion to help if you
encounter someone who has had a cardiac arrest (heart attack).
You will be taught how to:

Recognise a cardiac arrest.

Check for respirations.
-
Find and take a pulse.
-
How to establish and maintain an open
airway.
-
Where the compression site is on the chest.
-
How to position your hands for compressions.
-
How to deliver compressions and ventilations
to the patient.
-
You will also be instructed on the patient
recovery position.
Remember, once you find a person unresponsive.
Activate the emergency services now
! before you do any further assessment or CPR, Call 999
or 112, or your local emergency number.
Never
initiate CPR on a person who is Breathing and has a Pulse.
