MY PETS
I love this section! ^_^
Now most people have (or have
had) pets, so I thought I should share my furries with the world!
This group who for some reason
were known as 'the gang' were a lovely bunch that I had during 1997-2002.
They all lived together (separated mind) in an extremely spacious run during
their lives. Sadly they are not with us anymore... :(
THE GANG (Pics coming
soon!)
Splodge
Splodge was a medium sized
brown English butterfly rabbit that I had 6 or 7 years ago. Then I didn't
spend much time with my pets, (my mom took care of them) and boy do I regret it.
:'(
Splodge passed away in 1999, of
Snuffles. He's greatly missed.
Splodge loved cabbage.
Sparky
Sparky was Splodge's sister,
and was a black English butterfly bunny. Her back legs were bowlegged and
she couldn't go to the toilet properly, and in the summer of 2001 she succumbed
to fly strike (maggots). Her death was truly a shame, because we couldn't
tell that she was infested. There was no sign at all in the hutch or on
her, as she was a grumpy rabbit and kept to herself all the time.
Sparky's favourite food was
dandelion leaves.
PS: I know that 2 years is a
very short lifespan for a rabbit, but we suspect that the breeder who gave them
to us, was inbreeding her rabbits >:(
Coco
Coco was a beautiful chocolate
coloured Netherland Dwarf bun. He lived a little longer than Sparky and
Splodge, but would have lived much longer had he not made a fatal accident at
the vets. He was going to have his teeth clipped, but pulled back as the
vet clamped down and ripped his teeth out. This didn't kill him, but the
vet said he'd need his other teeth clipping every two weeks. He wasn't
eating and had to go back to the vets, who informed us that his back teeth were
growing down the back of his throat. He had an anaesthetic and all seemed
well for a while, but then he died, and the vets told us that although the
problem had been fixed, the teeth had changed direction and pierced the roof of
his mouth, killing him. Coco was a lovely affectionate bunny, who charmed
everyone. Coco loved to eat dandelion leaves.
Chip
Originally called Crystal and
Sonic, Chip was a grey agouti guinea pig that I got off the same girl that gave
me the bunnies. I rather irresponsibly got a pregnant female on purpose
just to see the 'cutesy babies'. I didn't tell my mom, who was the one who
looked after them. Chip had 4 babies that all survived, all were grey
except Peanuts, who was a brown agouti. Chip developed a lump on her side
that didn't bother her, but my mom suspected diabetes-she drank a lot, was
lethargic and tired. She passed away in 2002 at a fine age of 5 years.
Fizzy
Fizzy was joint favourite
guinea pig of my mom and Ray, (my next door neighbour who helped out) with
Squeaks. Fizzy was a very pale agouti crested piggy with an unusual
face. (she had a nose that wasn't pointed like the others, it was more
squashed, which looked very cute! ^_^) She was bullied by her sister sometimes
(Bandit), but they stayed friends mostly! :P We found out quite late in
her life that Fizzy was (or at least appeared to be) an hermaphrodite
(sp?). For people that don't know, a hermaphrodite is someone with both
sexes' organs. But this wasn't confirmed. Fizzy died of the same
kinda thing as Peanuts and Chip.
Peanuts
Peanuts was the underdog, the
outcast. She was still loved by me, but my mom didn't like her, due to her
snipey (rat faced) appearance. She had her fair share of problems, she got
mites and had to wear a modified home made cast with legs holes all over her to
stop her from scratching-it worked though! She loved tomatoes! Sadly Peanuts
died of similar symptoms to that of Fizzy and Chip.
Squeaks
Squeaks was the only male in
the litter, and was grey with a white stripe up one side. He earned his
name from being a very vocal piggy! ^_^ Squeaks developed a lump that
didn't not bother him, but he died a year or two later.
Bandit
Bandit was a large steel agouti
girl pig who lived with Fizzy. Bandit was the last of the group to die in
late 2002. My mom thinks she died of a broken heart because of all of her
friends were gone.
I don't know what to say about
these guys, but they're all with us today! (Some are old though- :( )
THE NEW GENERATION
Hamtaro
 Hamtaro
is my first hamster-she is a sable (without the specs associated with the
sables) with white smudges of her back. She is very affectionate and tame,
and is not nervous at all! ^_^
Unfortunately she has a pink
lump on her underside and I don't know what it is. I'm worried about her
passing the most, as she is the oldest. I got Hamtaro in February
2003. I sneaked her in, but they got used to it! I now have a whole
collection of lovely furries in my room, all thanks to this adorable
hamster! Hamtaro likes banana!
Cinnamon
 Cinnamon,
or Cinny, is a light grey hammy who is about the same age as Hamtaro. She
was a nervous wreak before, so I didn't handle her (stupid idea! :S) but now,
she tamer. She once bit my thumb while I wasn't looking (I was leaning on
the cage) and it bled for ages! >_< Oh well! ^_^;
She enjoys anything but Hammy
pellets!
Mr. Nutz
 Mr.
Nutz (Nutsy, See (pronounced C) Mr. Stinky (Don't know why! ^_^;) is quite old
too :(. He's a Djungarian hamster who's sooooo cute! His back gone
really boney letely, and he's lost his plumpness. I've put it down to him
getting old.
He sleeps ALL day! (he always
has!) He's my bf's personal fave, although I don't think it's fair to have
favourites. He's sure cute though! He enjoys bacon and Texas
Barbecue Pringles (my bf gave him some once and he loved it!)
Midge
 Midge
is younger than the others-I've still had him for 6 months though. He
looks like a darker version of Cinny! ^_^
I love how he looks at you face
on, I've never seen another hamster do it the same!
Midge likes peas a lot!
Ren
Ren
is quite young, and is the same breed as Mr. Nutz. He is Blizzard's twin
brother too! ^_^
They fight a bit, but nothing
serious-It's quite funny, Ren goes to Blizzard and starts 'pecking' him in the
face, then rolls over ready to fight when Blizzard glances at him! It's
like he's trying to start a fight! ^_^; Ren likes melon, same as Mr. Nutz.

Blizzard
Here's
Blizzard (or Blizzaroo), taking a gander at the webcam! he's Ren brother,
and the dominant one, I'd say. They do get one though! ;)
He's a Winter White-all white
with a grey stripe! (so cute! ^_^)
Blizzard likes peanuts.
Salty
Taking a break from
Hamsters-here's Salty the Gerbil! :D He's half of the duo and is Peppy's
brother. They get on so well! ^_^ Salty tends to sleep underneath Peppy-he
must like being snuggled up to! ^_^
Salty likes anything but
Peanuts.
Peppy
Peppy
is Salty's brother, and is a black and white gerbil. Although
affectionate, he has a problem. I don't know if it's possible for a gerbil
to sustain brain damage and survive, but when he was little he got spooked,
turned round and went straight into the wooden house they had at the time.
Since then, Peppy gnaws the bars like any gerbils does, but he goes into a
trance and won't come out til you tap his nose! ^_^
Peppy will eat anything!
Mitsy

Mitsy (Mitsurugi) is a boy
bunny that we thought was a girl! (Damn pet shop!) But he's a lovely
affectionate rabbit that wouldn't harm a fly! He lives with Guiness the
piggy, and they get on so well, they even cuddle up to sleep! They wash
each other and it's so aww! ^_^;
He goes all limp when handled,
I'm sure he loves it! Strangely, he only lets Andrew pick him up-He doesn't look
after them! O_o Here he is being held by Andrew. Still if it makes
Mitsy happy! Mitsy's favourite foods are bananas and broccoli. :P
Guiness
Guiness
(or Piggles) is a boy pig with a twist-he looks black, but has one white and
pink foot on his back legs-it's so cute!
Guiness lives to eat
carrots! he won't touch anything else unless it's dry food or grass.
He lives with Mitsy and they have so much fun!
My other pets
You won't find these in another
category as they weren't kept at the same time. I put Smokey here too.
Smokey
Smokey
is a boy cat who's quite old now. I found him in the bins (trash can) on
our way home ages ago.
I was only 4! O_o
I managed to coax him to the
car, grabbed him and took him home. He had no collar and we notified
everyone, but no-one came forward, so, he was mine to keep! To this day,
the scum that dumped him hasn't come forward. Thank God, I wouldn't give Smokey
up for the world, we've grown up together! ^_^
He's a very fussy eater, he'll
only have Felix black (Trout and Shrimp) and Go cat-fish biccies.
He likes to sleep a lot, but he
loves spending time outdoors-but recently a un-neutered male has been
terrorising my kitty-cat! >:o Grrr, I'm not mad at the cat, just the
owner for being so irresponsible. I can't believe someone can just not
bother, especially as I know they've had cats before!
Gex
I have no picture of Gex, I
didn't have him for long-I kinda got him without knowing in advance, so
everything was messed up and I knew NOTHING about newts!
I gave him a small terrarium
with a rock half-submerged and a plastic plant. I fed him on dried daphnia
that the fish ate at that time, also some shredded lettuce, but I couldn't get a
book and I didn't have internet access at the time, so yeah. I don't know
how long newts live and I didn't know how old Gex was, but I only had him for a
few months before he died. :'(
The Fish
I've had many fish-my
collection started in 1998. I started with Bob the comet, Jellybean the
goldfish, and Midnight the silver goldfish. Bob is still alive and well
today, and has outlived some of the others. Midnight and Jelly bean both
died. I got 2 catfish, one gold and one silver, called Kitty and Fumanchu
repectivly. Fumanchu is still with us, but sadly Kitty died a while back.
I've also always had
Orfes. Andrew once had an orfe called Quicky, so we got one and called is
Quicky II, sadly, Quickies have come and gone, and we're now on Quicky IV.
:(
I also have Nemo, a lemon
goldfish, who's growing really fast! O_o
So to summarise, I have Bob,
Fumanchu, Nemo and Quicky IV now. I'll probably keep collecting fish-I
feel a connection to them-probably the 'being a Pisces' talking! ^_^;;
Well, there's all my
pets! We had a dog once, but it was before my time. Apparently he
caught distemper and had to go the RSPCA. I don't know what happened to
him, but I doubt he's still alive-he'd be too old. :(
He was a black and white border
collie named Scamp. |
