MEPT

The MEPT. Manned Experimental Propagation Transmitter

The name coined by the QRSS Knights for the low power beacons which  could be turned off on demand / request.

My 200mW Beacon is built to the traditional 'Junk Box Beacon' design. It uses 3 bipolar transistors, an ancient BFY50 PA transistor saw service as a DC switch for many years. Now just like a caged bird set free it 'flies' the world. Almost all components are second hand, as many as possible from a Philips Video 2000 VCR, after years of agro maintaining them, one now gives me pleasure. Revenge is sweet. Frequency shift keying is by a '5mm red LED varicap' a PIC Microprocessor produces the morse code. The frequency used is 10.140073 Mhz.
