France Under-21 international Pegguy Arphexad joined Liverpool on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling during the summer from Premiership rivals Leicester City. The keeper will provide strong competition for Sander Westerveld, and who can forget last season's amazing performance from Arphexad in Leicester's 2-0 win at Anfield. No matter what the likes of Patrik Berger and Robbie Fowler hit at the visitors' goal there was no way past the Frenchman, making it a frustrating night for Emile Heskey against his old club.

A firm favourite with the Leicester supporters, Arphexad fulfilled a dream of playing in the Premiership when he arrived at Filbert Street from French club Lens, in August 1997.However, Arphexad faced strong competition for the Number One jersey from England international Tim Flowers, and the two shared first team duties.
