The Moors Investigations

Haunts International has chosen 30 locations on the Moors to investigate.
In order for us to keep our locations “secret” we have decided to number our Locations from 1 – 30.
We have done this to protect our locations from “poachers” during our ongoing investigations.
Reports and write-ups on investigations are taken from individual reports and compiled by haunts internationals journalists.

Location Number One

There were Five Team Members Present plus: -
The Location Owners
During January 2003, we visit this location and were amazed at the astounding results on our initial visit.
We managed to capture orbs in quantity, so decided that this is number one of our “Secret Moors locations” under
investigation
during 2003.
Psychic Medium Paula Phelps did a walk round of the property and picked up that it was the land that the building had been
built upon that was in fact haunted as opposed to the building itself.
Paula picked up that there was once a hanging tree or scaffold here.
Also monks had used this area as a pathway to the abbey, which is clearly in sight from the building, and once the land that
the building is now on, would have been part of the Abbeys estate.
Some of the photographs show the monks looking in the windows at us; the photographs show orbs coming in closer and closer.
The Team decided to do a follow up visit during February to see if there was still as much activity, and sure enough there
was.
Psychic Medium Paula Phelps held a séance, which was very interesting.
Paula linked with the spirit of a lady to start with;
Paula’s face changed and she literally seemed to look exactly like the lady who she was linking with in spirit.
The lady said that she was the mother of the Man who owned the building that we were investigating. The mother passed a message
on to her son via Paula, and then her spirit seemed to leave as fast as she came.
A second spirit made contact through Paula, this was also the Spirit of a Lady, but this time she made the group aware that
she was an Angel who guarded a precious secret.
The Secret that she guarded was unfolded in front of the group, and the séance turned into a series of prophecies.
The room went extremely cold and dark and the members of the team in the séance all felt that they were all outside
stood
by water, with the wind blowing in their hair and a dark impending cloud about their heads.
A few days Afterward a neighbour that lives opposite the location, reported to the group, that during the séance she
saw the
Building that we were in, shrouded with a dark veil, and there was a dark cloud above us. The neighbour described this as
an eerie sight and admitted to feeling somewhat spooked by the spectacle.
The next visit to “Moors Location One” is due soon! Stay close and we will post a brief report.

Upstairs in The Ship
Psychic Medium Paula Phelps went upstairs in the Ship area and made contact with spirit
Psychic Medium Paula Phelps contacted a spirit who Identified himself as male and said that his name was Captain Mathews.
The Spirit talked through Paula and described his last journey.
Cpt. Mathews said that his ship sailed around the headland and went past St Michaels Mount.
The captain then spoke of there being a raging storm and how it had blown out the fire beacon at Plymouth.
He said that his spirit was at Marsh Mills Beefeater because he wanted to stay with his ship, but he was angry because he
could see a lighthouse, and when he lost his life there wasn’t a lighthouse there!
Then the captain went on to tell of how his Spinnaker had broke and explained that a spinnaker is a diamond shape sail.
He tried to show Paula the cargo he was carrying and Paula said that it was unclear to her, but it looked like grain or granules
of some kind.
He then said that because the fire beacon had been put out in the storm, he was unable to see the headland and his ship hit
on the rocks in the storm.
He said that the ship had broken up in the storm and he had tried to swim to safety but had lost his life. He also spoke of
his wife.
The captain spoke of his sister and how he disliked her, a member of the team reminded him of her and he became quite angry
when he saw her.
Eddystone Lighthouse, Cornwall
The Eddystone Rocks are a dangerous reef 8 miles off Rame Head. The present tower is the 5th lighthouse to be built hereThe
first tower was built by Henry Winstanley out of Cornish granite, and completed in 1698. This lighthouse was virtually re-built
a year later as it needed strengthened against the forces of the sea. The second tower survived just 4 years, before being
demolished in a winter storm in November 1703, among with Winstanley who was in the lighthouse that night.
Following the Investigation Haunts Internationals research department researched the history, with the help of the Maritime
Museums and Libraries and the following information was found:-
•There was in fact a Captain Samuel Mathews who was born in 1596.
•At this time there was in fact No lighthouse at Plymouth – a fire beacon was lit to warn ships of the rocks.
•The rocks that the Captain spoke of are in fact notorious for shipwrecks, especially before the lighthouse.
•The church on St Michaels mount was used as a kind of lighthouse when a candle was lit and placed in the window to warn
the
ships of the rocks
•The Museums have informed us that the ship would probably have been a Merchant ship because of its cargo.
•We have also been informed that the area were the captain described he lost his life would have in fact of been wet
land.
Although now the land has been reclaimed.

One of The Customers Died in The Grounds Of Marsh Mills
A Man was killed as he left the Beefeater, he stepped out into the road and unfortunately he looked the wrong way and was
run over by a car.
The Young man was talking to his mother on his mobile phone at the time of the accident.
This is a very tragic story and we send out our kindest thoughts to his mother and the rest of his family who must have been
devastated.

The Highwayman Devon
“Earlier on in the year of 2002, a customer came into the Highwayman Inn; he was the only customer in the inn at the
time
recalls Bruce, so I spent my time having a drink with the stranger.
We talked about all sorts of subjects and were getting on really well together when suddenly the front door opened, the bell
rang as usual and a man wearing a dark coat walked past the door of the bar that we were in and went to the other bar.
I finished what I was saying to the man who I was drinking with and went through to the other bar to serve the customer that
had just came into the Inn.
The only trouble was, when I went into the other bar the new customer was not there”, Bruce recalls looking around the
bar
area and the checked the toilets just in case the customer had gone into the ladies by mistake, but there was no sign of this
customer whatsoever
When Bruce went back to his original customer, Bruce and the other customer realised that they were in the pub alone, and
the person that had come into the pub was a ghost.

A woman in her 60s or early 70s came into the Highwayman recalls Bruce; this was only a few weeks ago.
She must have been psychic recalls Bruce in his deep and calm voice, nothing ever worried Bruce, but this time he was really
moved by this experience.
The woman went into the ship bar, and the moment that she entered the ship she started to say that she could see and feel
spiritual presence’s.
The first spirit that she said that she could feel was of a little girl Bruce recalls, the woman said that the little girl
was standing underneath Nelson.
When the woman turned around she said that she saw the ghosts of two cavillers sitting at the middle table on the far side
of the room facing the door.
Bruce recalls that he went cold when the woman said this, because he had known many people who said that they saw a cavalier
in this part of the pub, and this Woman, a complete stranger had also said that she saw the same thing, which actually seems
to confirm previous sightings.
Surely many independent sightings of the same thing or person can not all be wrong?
“Then the lady said that she could see the spirit of an elderly woman” recalls Bruce, “she said that this woman
was behind
the tail of the serpent at the bar” Bruce said that he had questioned the psychic lady about the old woman who she had
seen
and the psychic lady went on to describe Sally Thompsons (Bruce’s wife) grandmother who had spent many hours in the Highwayman
Inn when she was alive.
On the psychic woman’s way out she told Bruce that she could sense a presence in the corridor part of the Pub, she said
that
this spirit want very happy, and she said that she had a feeling that the spirit wanted to leave.
“When the psychic woman went into the other bar” continues Bruce “ she said that she saw two spirits that were
wearing more
modern clothes. One of them was near the Grotto and the other one was just by the fruit machine.”
Bruce continued to say “ This was very interesting because on more than one occasion people have seen similar apparitions,
and the fact that this psychic woman was a stranger, who had never been in the Highwayman before made her sightings of spirits
more interesting, because she could not have known of these spirits in the Highwayman.”

Date of Visit; - 23rd – July 2002 overnight to 24th July 2002 Morning
* Note 24th July 2002 was a Full Moon
We had came to visit the Highwayman for the evening.
Jason and Diana had a business meeting pre arranged for the following morning and the rest of us were just relaxing and having
a time of winding down from our previous experiences of the past few days investigations.
The evening went well and we had a really good time of it all, wine flowed and a great time was had by all.
We had all drunk far too much to drive, so we stayed at The Highwayman and were allocated the ship bunks above the very haunted
ship bar in the Inn.
We all went to bed and the night passed relatively uneventfully
The following morning Jason, Veronica, Diana, Gary and myself all sat down to breakfast, In the ship restaurant and we were
enjoying a hearty breakfast cooked by Bruce.
We had had a good nights sleep and had sobered up from our alcohol of the previous evening.
Suddenly, without warning we realised that footsteps could be heard above our heads.
Diana, Veronica and Gary clearly heard somebody walking about directly above their heads.
The footsteps were coming from the cabin area, which we all knew to be empty and the only entrance to that part of the Inn
was through the area where we were sitting
Nobody had walked passed us to enter the cabin area so we realised that it must have been something unexplainable.
We all nominated Gary to take the digital camera with him upstairs to the cabin area and instructed him to photograph whatever
was there.
Gary duly went upstairs to the cabin area as instructed, and said that he saw nothing with the naked eye, but still continued
to snap away at random just in case he might capture something on camera.
On returning Gary said that he saw nothing but snapped away anyway, he said that he didn’t think that he had caught anything,
but to our joy and amazement when we looked at the capture images on the digital camera, we saw that Gary had in fact capture
a vortex.
Still sceptical of what he had captured, Gary when on to conduct further tests to see that this was not caused by any outside
influences and to our pleasure we can definitely say that the image is caused by something that we can not explain as anything
other that a vortex.
The image was downloaded onto the laptop computer and magnified, so that a vortex was clearly seen.
This vortex was made up of hundreds of orbs joined together in the same area.
Gary is truly delighted at what he has caught on camera, because this is his first vortex.

Visit to the Highwayman Inn on Tuesday 30th October 2001
Notes written by John in presence of Paula Phelps
22.02hrs
Paula requests John to accompany her from the downstairs bar area of the Inn, they move towards the Cabin room. Paula tells
of men on horseback coming to the Inn, one in particular she describes him as: -
Dark shoulder length hair, Moustache, Beard, puffy sleeves, baggy trousers, high boots, he carries a hat with a feather.
A girl of 19 years of age has been shot in a shooting accident, a stage coach accident, she is still here today…they
are both
locked in time. Her name is Anna; she is the man fiancee. Something has been thrown into a Well. He guards the well.
It was her belongings and jewellery. She had been raped and murdered. They killed her in the stagecoach, they shot her with
a flintlock gun, and it has a brass mechanism and bears the initials AE. The man AE killed her. The Well is near to the Inn.
23.40hrs
The Bell above the front entrance is seen and filmed moving (now joined by others)
23.48hrs
We go upstairs to the Cabin Rooms, it is cold and John feels the shivers and cold.
Paula continues “The stage Coach was brought to the Inn, there was a problem with one of the Wheels, it was lost. There
were
stables, toilets and hay storage where the cabin bedrooms are now.”
Room 1 overlooks the road, the murderer hid there in room three.
(The temperature in these areas is very cold)
Notes
The temperature in the Inn is quite comfortable and warm until a Presence is felt.
There seems to be three GHOSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS HAPPENING, AND STILL LOCKED INTO HISTORY UNTIL THE EVENT IS RESOLVED.
Interestingly, the present owners have surrounded the Inn with Wheels, and the father suffered a Wheel problem with his car
only a few weeks earlier.
John attempted some Recovery work for these Spirits, time will tell whether this was of any assistance. The Cavalier would
not come near John, and he was accused of blocking any energy flow when a séance was held some hours later, this could
be
explained by his history in a previous lifetime. The time setting appears to be the UK Civil War

Date of Investigation 24.7.02
On arrival at the Crown Hotel the first thing that we noticed was that this was not a Grand Hotel as we had imagined, but
a very shabby Hotel that looked as if it had not had any interior refurbishment done for at least twenty years.
The hotel also did not appear on first appraisal to feel in the least bit haunted ….but little did we know!
After the normal pleasantries, we were shown to our respective rooms where we took a few minutes to settle and await the arrival
of Mike Guy the Presenter for Radio Link.
Our Investigation really started in the evening of the 24th June, which incidentally was a full moon.
The whole group were assembled in the bar area, where Jason had deliberately kept Diana, Paula, Veronica and Gary away from
Vicky Dorrell and her Mother who were sitting at a different table on the opposite side of the room.
The reason for this was because Vicky had studied the Haunting at the Crown Hotel as part of her College studies and it was
she who had alerted Jason to the fact that it could well be haunted. Jason did not want to influence any of the findings that
the Mediums made by prior information.
It is important to emphasise that none of the mediums were aware of the history of the Hotel, and were not aware of its location
until they arrived there.
10.00 PM
Mike Guy started by interviewing Jason Karl who is a parapsychologist, he then interviewed Vicky Dorrell, but the Mediums
were not aware of what was said during these interviews.
Paula Phelps and Mike Guy started a walkabout session around the Hotel.
They started at the top of the Hotel in the bathroom and toilet on the top floor.
Paula picked up that there was paranormal activity around the bathroom area.
Even before Paula had properly “tuned in” she could feel that something had occurred.
Paula felt cold spots and said that she could feel that something quite tragic had occurred there, that something had happened
to somebody that wasn’t very positive, she said that this could be as bad as somebody being beheaded or even murdered.
Paula
felt that something had happened that was not quite right around this area. She then went on to say that she could feel the
presence of a child.
As Paula walked away from the bathroom she saw an orb of light in the bathroom go from the window area over towards the bath.
Paula saw this with the bathroom light on with her bear eyes (this is very unusual) although Mike did not record this sighting,
he did acknowledge that Paula had said that she had seen an orb in this bathroom. Paula also picked up a lingering connection
with water.
Paula was drawn to the bathroom on the top floor and although she went to the next floor she was drawn back up to the top
floor.
Paula then said that she picked up psychically that somebody had died in a shocking way, which was no accident but a deliberate
act, murdered, and again said that she could feel that somebody had been beheaded. Paula also then said that she had a feeling
of two different independent presence’s.
Paula also felt that a person that had lived in the hotel in life had come back in spirit and that she felt that this person
might have drowned.
Again Paula picked up a negative vibration around and also a lady in spirit possibly a mother.
As Paula continued her walk around the Hotel she spoke of feeling a vibration of a ball or a moving head in the bar area and
said that she felt that it was moving.
She also said that it felt like some kind of poltergeist activity.
She again spoke of dismemberment in this area. Paula also picked up that the position of the building had changed and there
were walls and structures changed from the original building. Paula spoke of an archway, and doorway. She again said of a
child and of an Evil presence.
Diana Jarvis and Veronica Charles walked Mike Guy around the Hotel dowsing using dowsing rods and a pendulum.
Diana talked Mike through how to use the pendulum, then Mike had a go at using the pendulum, but Mike had little success at
this.
Then Diana showed Mike how to use the dowsing rods, which seemed to work incredibly well for him.
Diana was thrilled that Mike was able to use the rods and pointed out to the listeners that Mike went very red.
Then with the use of the pendulum and Dowsing rods both Diana and Veronica and also Mike the Radio Presenter went for a walk
around the hotel.
Diana felt a presence at the bottom of the stairs with the use of the Pendulum and Veronica also felt a presence with the
use of the dowsing rods.
Diana pointed out to Mike that the first stage of an investigation usually starts with the use of the pendulum and the dowsing
rods.
She went on to explain that the electrical magnetical energy is somewhat stirred up by the use of these tools and because
of this any Spiritual presence is attracted. Diana went on to compare this with the turning on of a light that the spirit
is drawn towards.
Diana and Veronica were pulled toward the top floor of the Hotel, they were drawn towards the bathroom area (The same bathroom
that Paula was drawn towards)
Veronica and Diana started to feel uncomfortable in the Bathroom. Veronica said that she was picking up violence and the feeling
that somebody had been tortured in this area. Veronica said that she felt that somebody had been murdered and that Bad things
had happened there. (Again very similar to what Paula had sensed)
Mike heard the sound of water (these fits with what had been said earlier by Paula)
Suddenly and without warning the light dipped in the bathroom and both Diana and Veronica and Mike saw the fluctuation in
the light, and more amazingly they all saw an orb - in exactly the same place as Paula had said that she had saw one earlier.
Both Diana and Veronica were perspiring and both said that they felt awful. A feeling of dread and a feeling of utter disbelief
that they were killed in such a way.
Veronica said that she felt that things were seen on the stairs such as spirits.
Diana felt children and then the both Diana and veronica agreed that the feeling was not positive.
The interesting thing is that all three mediums felt the same way in the same area. Also all three mediums and Mike saw an
orb with the naked eye. Again this is really unusual.
After a walk in the grounds of the Hotel, which was relatively uneventful, the group gathered in the bedroom (7) at the top
of the Hotel - This Bedroom is next to the bathroom where the orbs were seen.
Paula and Vicky went into the bathroom on the top floor and they both saw the lights go on and off again. (This is the same
bathroom as the orbs were seen)
Diana was standing in the hallway and said that she felt that her hair was pulled and again she felt ill and burning up in
temperature.
Mike then went on to interview Gary Phelps who talked Mike through some of the equipment used in the investigation.
Mike and Gary gathered outside the bathroom (top floor, the one with the orb) then
Paula and Diana were called to invoke some energy source so that Gary could capture it on camera; they went into the bathroom
again. Paula went into trance and said that she felt twisted and small and Paula also said that she felt two small spirits.
Both Diana and Paula sensed a feeling of being locked in and Paula said that she felt the spirit could not get out, a feeling
of being locked up.
Then suddenly without notice Paula, Diana and also Mike and Gary heard a deep growl / cough that was evil but not animal,
Human and ugly.
Both Diana and Paula felt and heard an evil presence and ran out of the bathroom.
When interviewed afterwards Mike and Gary said that they had also heard a noise like a mans cough / Growl inside the bathroom.
On an Interview afterwards Paula explained that she was going into a trance in the bathroom, she felt that she was linking
with a spirit and feeling twisted and gnarled but then right next to her she heard a noise that sounded like a male almost
creature kind of noise that was evil and made her not want to be around it. Which was the reason why she had bolted out of
the bathroom.
Paula said that she felt it was a person, she also felt the feeling of being shut in to that room, like a prisoner.
On an interview with Diana she also said that she had heard the noise and that it was not very positive and that it made her
want to bolt from the room. Diana admitted that the noise scared her and she thought that it was something quite evil also.
After this encounter Vicky and her mother left. Veronica went to bed.
Mike stayed with the group in bedroom 7, Jason was dozing on the bed, Diana, Paula and Gary were left in the room chatting
when they realised that the temperature in the room started to drop drastically
Diana and Paula sensed that there was a presence in the room with them and even Gary and Mike could also feel the temperature
drop and the atmosphere becoming more and more electric.
Paula began to go into trance again, this time she picked up the presence of two small children; again Paula repeated the
feeling of deformity in these children. Diana and Paula were tuned in to each other and Diana could also feel the presence
of the children at the same time that Paula was sensing them.
The children were unable to speak to Paula who is clairaudient, Paula sensed that this was because they were unable to speak.
but they communicated with both Paula and Diana by making their presence felt.
Then almost as if by guarding the small children, but not in a positive way Paula and Diana sensed this evil spirit again.
The evil spirit seemed to enter Paula’s body (uninvited) using Paula as a way to communicate and started to speak.
It was Paula voice, but then it changed into a gruff almost animal evil voice and went on to say that the children were his
children to do with as he wished.
The evil spirit said that he hated them because they were deformed and that he wanted them dead, it went on to tell of how
he had killed them and also how he was holding their spirits there in captivity.
Paula could feel this presence inside her and felt she become at one with this spirit.
Diana sensed that she should get the spirit out of Paula’s body because it was becoming more and more powerful and using
Paula
as a tool to cause even more harm.
Diana ordered the presence to leave Paula’s body, but it would not go, Diana ordered it to go again, and again it would
not
go.
Eventually with all the power that both Diana and Paula could raise the two of them managed to remove the evil spirit from
within Paula.
As a way to keep evil away, instinctively both Paula and Diana embraced each other as friends with love. (This is an effective
way to counteract evil - use Love)
During this time Gary tried to take many photographs and Mike tried to record the incident, but unexplainably both the digital
camera and the video recorder seemed to have had their batteries drained of power.
*Sometimes manifestations drain power in order to materialise or gain strength.
Afterwards Paula described that she felt that this was the father of the twins, and that he had tortured them and even beheaded
one of them; Paula felt that he had drowned the other twin.
Paula said that the twins were deformed and that they had been locked upstairs in a room that is now the bathroom/ bedroom
area, he was holding them against their will.
She also sensed that the twins were not able to talk, due to not being taught how to, Paula said that she felt that they were
locked in and being treated like animals, they had not been nurtured and loved, just abused and ultimately killed/murdered.
Diana had sensed the same feeling and agreed that there were twins who had been mistreated, and ultimately murdered.
Because of the evil presence in the room Paula and Diana proceeded to banish the Evil spirit and tried to save the souls of
the children by taking them towards the light.
Neither Diana or Paula felt that the evil was gone for good, Paula kept feeling that he was trying to enter her body again
and described this as a feeling of being raped, because this was against her will.
Because of this strong evil feeling the whole group retired for the rest of the night to a bedroom on the lower floor and
protected themselves by sitting inside a Pagan circle until daybreak.
Later on after the investigation had finished Mike told the group that Vicki’s story confirmed some of what the mediums
had
said during the nights investigations: -
Vicky told Mike that in the seventeenth Century the Landlord had a wife who gave birth to deformed twin daughters and because
in those days deformities in children were thought to be the work of the devil they were kept upstairs locked in a room until
they were allegedly murdered and buried under the floor in the parlour of the hotel.
Since then there have been many sightings and strange happenings in the hotel.
In particular on June 7th 1966 The landlord Mr Eless was converting an upstairs haybarn and while he and his sons and a couple
of friends were in the bar they heard the piano playing upstairs, when they rushed up to see who was playing it, a few more
notes played but there was nobody there and the playing just stopped abruptly!
A few tools that were on the piano shot off horizontally and fell to a heap on the floor and a fireball about the size of
a babies head materialised in the centre of the room and followed them down the stairs and disappeared under an archway into
the road.
Since about that time there have been various sightings in the hotel, from knifes spinning to objects moving.

Boxes and bottles move on their own in one area of the building.

Upstairs in The Ship
Psychic Medium Paula Phelps went upstairs in the Ship area and made contact with spirit
Psychic Medium Paula Phelps contacted a spirit who Identified himself as male and said that his name was Captain Mathews.
The Spirit talked through Paula and described his last journey.
Cpt. Mathews said that his ship sailed around the headland and went past St Michaels Mount.
The captain then spoke of there being a raging storm and how it had blown out the fire beacon at Plymouth.
He said that his spirit was at Marsh Mills Beefeater because he wanted to stay with his ship, but he was angry because he
could see a lighthouse, and when he lost his life there wasn’t a lighthouse there!
Then the captain went on to tell of how his Spinnaker had broke and explained that a spinnaker is a diamond shape sail.
He tried to show Paula the cargo he was carrying and Paula said that it was unclear to her, but it looked like grain or granules
of some kind.
He then said that because the fire beacon had been put out in the storm, he was unable to see the headland and his ship hit
on the rocks in the storm.
He said that the ship had broken up in the storm and he had tried to swim to safety but had lost his life. He also spoke of
his wife.
The captain spoke of his sister and how he disliked her, a member of the team reminded him of her and he became quite angry
when he saw her.
Eddystone Lighthouse, Cornwall
The Eddystone Rocks are a dangerous reef 8 miles off Rame Head. The present tower is the 5th lighthouse to be built hereThe
first tower was built by Henry Winstanley out of Cornish granite, and completed in 1698. This lighthouse was virtually re-built
a year later as it needed strengthened against the forces of the sea. The second tower survived just 4 years, before being
demolished in a winter storm in November 1703, among with Winstanley who was in the lighthouse that night.
Following the Investigation Haunts Internationals research department researched the history, with the help of the Maritime
Museums and Libraries and the following information was found:-
•There was in fact a Captain Samuel Mathews who was born in 1596.
•At this time there was in fact No lighthouse at Plymouth – a fire beacon was lit to warn ships of the rocks.
•The rocks that the Captain spoke of are in fact notorious for shipwrecks, especially before the lighthouse.
•The church on St Michaels mount was used as a kind of lighthouse when a candle was lit and placed in the window to warn
the
ships of the rocks
•The Museums have informed us that the ship would probably have been a Merchant ship because of its cargo.
•We have also been informed that the area were the captain described he lost his life would have in fact of been wet
land.
Although now the land has been reclaimed.

One of The Customers Died in The Grounds Of Marsh Mills
A Man was killed as he left the Beefeater, he stepped out into the road and unfortunately he looked the wrong way and was
run over by a car.
The Young man was talking to his mother on his mobile phone at the time of the accident.
This is a very tragic story and we send out our kindest thoughts to his mother and the rest of his family who must have been
devastated.
