Word of Welcome News and Events Announcements
Sayaka Fukumi & Francesco Marelli

The year 2003 has started with the dark news of a possible military attack on Iraq by the US and its allies because of its failure to meet the UN’s resolution to destroy its weapons of mass destruction.

The world at the moment appears divided and the tension between the United States/Britain and the other countries (such as France and Germany) that oppose a military attack is rising. Although international politics is full of uncertainty, the future of our Standing Group on Organised Crime seems a little bit more cheerful and hopeful: this is the first anniversary of our eNewsletter and we are delighted to present to you our fourth eNewsletter which is a special issue dedicated to ‘organised crime in America’.<read>

Recruitment
The group is keen to increase membership and would ask members to help in this recruitment process, in particular, by suggesting possible new members. Members do not have to be from an ECPR institution. We are interested in expanding our network to recruit academics and practitioners so that we can have an exchange of ideas and develop projects together. Please suggest names if you can.

Important!!
