Over the course of the trip I managed to visit all of the sites in the Clarke/Collins book, most lived up to the reports held within except the lagoon at Catalina Garcia which was dry and El Cotillo, a long early morning search here failed to produce the close views (photos) of Houbara that I so wanted, I did get some nice views of a flock of Black-bellied Sandgrouse and two Barbary Partridge though, and Los Molinos produced Coot Moorhen and Little Egret.

For the most part of the trip I spent a good deal of time in the area that formed a triangle between Los Alares, Antigua and Trinquivijate, this was a very productive place, not well covered by the book. The cultivations at the Antigua end being especially good early morning with very many Hoopoe, Spectacled Warbler, Chiffchaff, Spanish Sparrow, Goldfinch, Linnet and Corn Bunting, the walls were alive with Barbary Ground Squirrel, and there were a few flocks of Black-bellied Sandgrouse, generally seen in flight. On the last morning of the trip I finally found a very close Houbara, I was shaking with excitement as I blasted off about 50 pictures before it slinked off into the scrub.
