Icelandic race Black-tailed Godwit
Limosa limosa islandica

As the autumn migration gets into full swing many waders are returning from the northern breeding grounds. Good numbers of these Black-tailed Godwits stop off to feed all around the UK, these birds were at Titchwell. After the main bulk of visiting birders have left this reserve, the birds come back nearer to the hides, blessed with nice warm evening light they really do make for great images.

You can see a small snail in
this birds bill, they must take thousands of food items, it is a miracle
that the mud can sustain so much life.
