Background info: Nina and Taj have been dating for a few months, the same length of time Jack, accompanied by girlfriend Lori, has been back at Ramsey Street. They clicked instantly with the current teen gang (especially Nina and Jack) and have all become close friends.

(some events mirror that on the show, others are inspired by other entertainment sources)

The bell rang, signalling the end of the school week, but more importantly that there was only one week left before the summer break. “So what are we going to do in the summer?” asked Nina excitedly as she approached Michelle and Taj at the lockers. “I’m not sure about you but I see sun, I see surf and I see us down at the beach getting a killer tan,” Shell replied staring off into fantasy land. They both laughed but suddenly Taj broke in, “hey that’s not a bad idea, I know a friend that has a place up the coast. I’ll have to ask him though.” But the girls didn’t seem to care; they were already discussing what bikinis to get. The next day the gang was having lunch at the lake, talking about the up coming trip after receiving the all clear from Taj’s friend. “I can’t wait. I love the beach, all those sexy bods,” said Lori, laughing with the girls. “Common on, we know that you gals just want to see us guys with our shirts off,” replied Jack jokingly. “Of course Jack, especially your professional athletic, toned, chiselled abs,” Nina said overdramatically, putting her hand on head, pretending to faint and falling into Jacks arms. Faking a laugh, he said, “You’re not far from the truth there beautiful,” as he tickled her around the waist. “In your dreams mate, she was referring to me,” said Taj and Connor instantaneously, pulling up their sleeves and flexing their arms. “No you’re both wrong,” exclaimed Shelle. “Yeah, that guy Nina is talking about is ‘unfortunately’ not here!” said Lori looking around the lake as if searching for ‘the guy’. At that point all broke out into laughter; they could all tell that next weekend was going to be great and one to remember.

The van pulled up beside the sandy beach. The sight was absolutely breathtaking. There was not a single cloud in the sky and the ocean stretched out far beyond into the horizon. The guys were first out, followed by the girls who were mesmerized by the views before them. Connor put his arms around Shelle, “I’ve never seen anything so beautiful,” he said. “Yeah…hey!?” Shelle quizzed Connor humorously. “…um I mean apart from you Shelle,” he quickly replied, equally as cheeky. “Can’t wait to get in, the waters look so warm,” smiled Lori feeling the sand beneath her feet, as Shelle enthusiastically agreed. Upon hearing this the guys exchanged mischief looks, “well that can be arranged,” the shouted as they began chasing the girls, screaming joyously, down to the waters. Later that night they were all gathered around the camp fire, telling scary stories. Taj had just finished telling a story, to which everyone laughed, “I think you look freakier than that story was,” laughed Lori, referring to the torch he was holding to his face. It was then that Jack got up, signalling that he was cold and headed towards the house to get a jumper. Jack got back as Nina was disagreeing with Lori, “That story was scary, I don’t want to get nightmares tonight,” she said as she stood up. “Taj do you want to go for a walk?” she asked. “I’ve got a few more excellent stories but I’ll go with you,” he replied. But soon, upon persuasion by the others he decided to stay and Jack offered to go to keep Nina company, saying sarcastically that his stomach was hurting from too much laughing. Nina and Jack continued laughing as they left the group, but soon Nina was staring up into the night sky and her mind was elsewhere. The sounds of the clear aqua blue waters was crashing upon the shores as the warm summer breeze blew against her face, causing her long following hair to fly gently in the wind. “This is heaven,” she whispered, taking a deep breath, closing her eyes and spinning around in circles. “Don’t you think so?” she asked, “It just makes me want to dance.” She was now looking at him. Jack smiled back at her; seeing the waves of the ocean in her piercing blue eyes. She looked beautiful in the moonlight. “Dance with me Jack,” she smiled softly, taking hold of his hands. He was usually a lousy dancer and was reluctant at first, but before long they were dancing underneath the stars. He too was consumed by the magic of the night.

Lori and Shelle looked amusingly at each other, giggling as they said to Nina, “What ever it was that you took, we’d like some.” Nina, who had been humming the tune from earlier while brushing her hair, stopped and gave the girls a cheeky smile. “You should have been there, it was so magical,” Nina said, still half dancing. “We can tell,” Lori laughed. Just then a cold draft blew in from the open window, causing the girls to shiver as they reached for their jumper. All their jumpers were still wet from earlier that day when the boys threw them into the waters, so Shelle and Lori slipped on the extra jumper they packed. But Nina couldn’t seem to find hers, as she rummaged through her bag. “I must have forgotten to pack it,” she said, hugging herself for warmth. “Just steal one from the guys,” Shelle said, pointing to their room. She knocked on the door and Taj gave Nina a kiss on the cheek as she entered. “Can I borrow a jumper, I only took one and that one is wet because of you know who,” she smiled, poking Taj in the waist. “Sorry I only have this one,” pointing to the one he was wearing, “maybe jack has a spare one among his hair care products. Come on mate, we only have a weekend,” he laughed, looking at Jack, who was brushing his hair. Jack playfully threw a towel at Taj as he ducked outside the room. Nina covered her mouth, trying not to laugh as Jack handed her his red jumper. “Don’t listen to him, I think you’re beautiful,” she said, playfully ruffling up his hair, “especially like this!” as she grabbed the beanie on the bed and pulled over his head, covering his eyes. “All of a sudden I’m feeling really cold and I might need this jumper after all,” he joked, holding the jumper away from Nina. She tried to get it but Jack stretched out his arm in the opposite direction, making it was just out of her reach. “So you’re gonna be like that are you?” she said, holding one of his hands back and reaching for the other. She had nearly got it when Jack began tickling her, causing them both to fall on the bed with laughter.

“Hey watch where you’re going buddy!” Nina said, playfully pushing and nudging Jack to the side. The girls, who were going crazy with the camera, were amused by the boys who were accusing each other of cheating as they played cards. They looked up as Nina and Jack entered the living room. “What was going on in there?” Lori quizzed, “Even Harvey heard you guys.” Nina glared at Jack, “Well, your boyfriend was being a complete jerk, he was going to let me freeze,” Nina over exaggerated. “Well, nothing more than you deserve,” he said, heading towards the lounge. Nina went to sit down, but all the spaces on the lounge opposite the fire place was taken, the only seat left was a small sofa nearby. But before Nina got to it Jack had already stretched his legs across the seat, placing his hands behind his head he said, “Ahh… this seat is sooo warm and comfortable, shame it’s only a one seater. Sorry beautiful, guess you have to sit over there.” Jack pointed to a chair in the far corner of the cold dark kitchen. “You wish,” she said, hitting him with a pillow and squeezing in next to him, drawing her legs up to her chest. “Smile!” Shelle suddenly said, snapping a picture of Jack and Nina. It was a tight fit but she soon got comfortable, enjoying the warmth that the closeness with Jack provided. Nina leaned against Jack and rested her head on his shoulders, her long soft hair lying across his chest. He could even smell her sweet soft perfume. Nina looked up at Jack and smiled gently; sitting still she could almost feel his heart beating.

(The night was filled with laughter from the retelling of embarrassing stories, accompanied with a few pillow and popcorn fights) “You know what we should do!” Nina suddenly exclaimed excitedly, “We should stay up and watch the sunrise.” Initially the idea was met with enthusiasm by everyone as they all agreed emphatically, but as the night wore on their resistance faded and one by one they retreated to the bedrooms….Lori yawned as she looked at her watch, it was nearly 4am and her eyelids were getting heavier. She looked over to the lounge where Nina and Jack had relocated to after the others had departed, they were still chatting away and they didn’t seem tired at all, which was more than she could say for herself. “I think I need my beauty sleep,” she said rubbing her eyes as she kissed Jack, “goodnight…or should it be good morning?” she giggled as she headed towards the bedrooms. Nina waved to Lori as she sat down next to Jack after getting another cup of hot chocolate. For the next hour they talked about everything. Jack learned about Nina’s love for music and he talked about his football. Apart from Lori he had never discussed with anyone else why he stopped playing, but he just felt so comfortable with Nina, that he could trust her with anything….Before long 2 hours had passed and the sky was vibrant as it shone with rays of orange, reds and all the colours of the rainbow. Despite Nina’s determination she had fallen asleep on the couch as she rested her head on his lap. Jack had been awake all night, watching her as she slept. She was like and angel, so peaceful and serene. He looked outside, the sun was nearly going to come up; he didn’t want to wake her but he knew how much she wanted to see the sunrise. “Nina,” he whispered. She stirred and slowly opened her eyes. “Jack?” she asked rubbing her eyes. “Hey beautiful, want to go see the sunrise?” he asked. Nina smiled and nodded, reaching her hands out as he pulled her up.

Nina sat down on the sands, shivering slightly before Jack wrapped a blanket around her shoulders and sitting down next to her. Sitting in silence Jack and Nina snuggled up closer as the sun began to creep over the horizon. The morning air was crisp and fresh, the streets were empty and all you could hear were the sounds of the waves and the seagulls flying above. Nina rested her head on Jack’s shoulder, for a moment it seemed that they were the only two people on earth.
