Coffee
Shop.
Steph.
What shall I do lib?
Libby.
You can’t keep on like this. It is killing you, and what bout Alex. You
can’t do this to him. You have got to break things of with him as soon as
possible.
Steph.
I know?
Summer
enters the coffee shop. She looks rather upset.
Steph.
Hi Summer. What’s with the long face?
Summer.
Oh, its just dad.
Libby
looks at Steph. She looks rather concerned.
Steph.
What’s wrong with him?
Summer.
Nothing. He has been given a job offer.
Libby.
That’s good news, isn’t it?
Summer.
It’s not that simple. The job is back on the rigs again. He might move away.
Steph.
Really.
Summer. He
promises to come home every 2 months, but he said that last time and we didn’t
see him for nearly half a year.

The
next morning Steph is feeling sorry for herself. She can’t believe Max, her
only real love, may be leaving forever.
Steph
goes outside to collect the paper.
Max
is also outside. It is really early and the rest of the street seems to be in
the land of nod.
Max
walks over to Steph.
Max.
Hi Steph. How are you?
Steph.
I’m fine thanks.
Max.
Steph what’s wrong, you look upset.
Steph.
Oh it’s nothing.
Max.
Oh well better get back inside.
He
turns to leave.
Steph
calls to him.
Steph.
Why are you leaving?
Max.
What? How did you know?
Steph.
I saw Summer yesterday, she looks upset.
Max.
Well I’m not sure if I am going yet.
Steph.
I can’t believe you’re even considering it, they’re your kids, you can’t
leave them.
Max.
I don’t need this Steph.
He
turns to walk back inside.
Steph.
You can’t leave me max.
Max.
Pardon, what did you say.
Steph.
I said you can’t leave me, I have strong feelings for you.
Max.
Do you, really.
Steph.
Isn’t it obvious?
Max.
Not really.
Steph.
Look I have really made a prat of myself. I will see you later.
She
turns to walk back inside.
Max.
I have feelings for you too.
