Mission Viejo Aurora was developed by Mission Viejo Company starting in 1972. It was designed as a Colorado adaptation of Mission Viejo California.

South Branch of the Aurora Public Library

The South Branch of the Aurora Public Library building in Mission Viejo was designed and dedicated by Mission Viejo Company.

Mission Viejo Elementary School

Mission Viejo Elementary is the longest continuously operated year-round school in the country. It was cited for "outstanding architectural design" by the American Association of School Administrators and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) when it was built in 1974. The school is located in the award winning Cherry Creek School District.

City of Aurora

Unlike some other developments by Mission Viejo Company, Mission Viejo Aurora has all of its municipal tasks taken care of by the large City of Aurora. The City maintains all the parks, greenbelts and parkways in the neighborhood.

Mission Viejo Aurora Homeowners' Association

The Mission Viejo Aurora Homeowners' Association a few years ago installed mandatory dues for most but not all filings in the neighborhood. The Association concerns itself with covenant enforcement, security patrols, a neighborhood newsletter, improvements and occasional events.

Mission Aurora Swim Team

The Mission Aurora Swim Team is mentioned here because it was created by the joining of the Mission Viejo Swim Team and the Aurora Swim Team. The Mission Viejo Swim Team was modeled after Mission Viejo California's Nadadores Team. The Mission Viejo team originally swam at the recreation center.

This is the "mother" organization of Mission Viejo Aurora Heritage Committee. One of the goals of the Aurora Heritage Committee will be to coordinate efforts with this group. This committee is a part of the City of Mission Viejo and inherited the corporate archives of the Mission Viejo Company. They are also currently working on a book documenting the history of Mission Viejo California.

City of Mission Viejo California

The City of Mission Viejo is the governmental entity for all of Mission Viejo California, covering all aspects of the community from planning to parks and recreation.

Mission Viejo Country Club

Mission Viejo County Club is a private golf club built in 1967 by Mission Viejo Company. It features an exclusive 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

 

Mission Viejo Library

Mission Viejo Library was originally designed and built by Mission Viejo Company. It has recently undergone remodeling.

 

Mission Viejo Mall

This mall has recently been redeveloped with new exclusive tenants such as Nordstrom's and Saxs Fifth Avenue.

 

Mission Viejo Nadadores Swim Team

The Nadadores Swim team was started and originally owned by the Mission Viejo Company. Founded in 1968, this private swim and diving club is the most successful swim team in the United States. The team has won 47 National championships, produced 12 Olympic gold medal winners, 6 Olympic silver medals, 1 Olympic bronze winner, 5 individual world championship titles, and 144 individual national championships. The Nadadores' home is the Mission Viejo Aquatics Swim Complex in Mission Viejo California.

Mission Viejo High School

Mission Viejo High School opened its doors in 1966 and has remained a highly acclaimed school in Orange County.

Lake Mission Viejo Association

This Lake, situated near the center of Mission Viejo California, was built by Mission Viejo Company and is now operated by the Lake Mission Viejo Association. Anyone living in the City of Mission Viejo can be members which offers beaches, swimming, boat rentals, and great events featuring top pop performing groups plus many other yearly activities.

Arapahoe Acres, Littleton Colorado

Not related to Mission Viejo, this site shows an interesting neighborhood in the Denver area that was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Such subdivisions, of the post-cold war era are now being recognized around the country for their unique styles. Mission Viejo Aurora's earliest filings are a modified version of some of these Usonian, California contemporaries. In the next twenty years, subdivisions like Mission Viejo Aurora will soon gain respect from preservationists.
