| Plot The plot is pretty good - you need to go back in time to save the present. You need the runes to destroy whoever or whatever is doing this. You go doing quests for people to help you. It's kinda like the orginal game -- except you get something for finishing the quests, not just wasting time waiting for the bridge to be fixed or whatever. "Dink's world is being torn apart and Dink must go back in time to find the source of the problems." - from the readme/dmod.diz. There are 382 .d files! Sound It has some very cool midi's in it, and you are hardly ever left with nothing to listen to. It has 47 midis. Difficulty About as difficult as Dink. Some parts are harder then other parts (like the boss, he's too easy; and the robots are really hard the first time you fight them). Weapons New weapons, things are always carried in the inventory (even if they're not weapons), while a lot of dmod's don't bother. Including 4 swords, bombs, throwing axe, 2 types of axes for one of the morphable creatures (see below). Magic The magic system has been turned on its head. Runes are carried in the inventory, but each rune can hold up to 4 more spells (cycle through them by press M). There are 2 useable runes (8 spells). The first rune allows you to morph into 1 of 4 creatures, adding on their attack/defence to your tally (they can't use weapons or magic) and their speed. The second rune allows you to cast 1 of 4 spells, including fire (same as the second fire spell in Dink), ice (freezes the enemy and turns 'em into ice [makes 'em look like they've been frozen]), spark (kinda like the first fire spell in Dink, I guess, but more power and can't burn down trees) and a secret one. Size Absolutely HUGE. Just as big, if not bigger, then Dink Smallwood! Has over 700 screens! (Max is 768.) Graphics Claims it has around 700 more graphics, and it's true! My prop/graphics directory is 10.3 meg. Bugs I only found two bugs in the game. The first time I played, I was using "quick-switch-back-to-human" (activate something in the inventory, like a sword, to switch back), and I found that my attack was "erased". My fist was doing 7, and my sword 8. And I was supposed to be doing something over 30! I didn't mind having to restart, thoough... The third time (when I was writing the walkthrough), I killed the goblin chief, but he stayed alive. All I had to do was wait for him to kill me, then restart at the last save. It's not the game's fault though - It also happened to me after the first time I kill Seth in Dink Smallwood. Specials There is a secret spell and a secret village. It contains a lot of new stuff. It's huge. Pros: Big. Could be a game of its own! :) Cons: Er... emm... ermmm... I can't think of any. Bottomline: GREAT DMOD. Get this NOW! Huge, took the author 4 months to make, didn't "race ahead" on anything. Overall score: 10 out of 10. Download: Local, From Dink Network (5.48 meg, v. 2.01) Related Links: Our walkthru, walkthru @ Dink Solutions, author's (dead) dink page. |
