Senior Superintendent Alexander Ana-ao Pumecha is the new
Provincial Director of the Mountain Province Police Provincial
Office effective June 15, 2006. He replaces Police Senior
Superintended William Ana-ao Aspilan who retired.

bound for Bontoc, detour at Maba-ay. There is a washout at
Sabangan-View deck area. For passengers bound for Baguio,
travel will take longer as vehicles will have to wait for their
turns at Pakpakitan in Benguet.

Business Assistance Center Launched
BONTOC,
Mountain Province. The local Small and Medium Enterprise
Development Council (SMEDC) launched the SME (Small and Medium
Enterprise) Assistance Center at the office of the Department of
Trade and Industry on July 17, 2006. Present during the
launching ceremonies were Roger Sacyaten, Executive Assistant to
Mountain Province Governor, Maximo B. Dalog, hotelier Ellen
Geronilia, Melita Pinic of the Technical Education and Skills
Development Authority, Paula Acofo of the Bontoc Market Vendor's
Association, Juliet P. Lucas, Provincial Caretaker of the
Department of Trade and Industry and various sector
representatives. Mr. Roger Sacyaten did the honors of
switching the SME Assistance Center marker.

News in Brief:
-Text
messages become the new media battleground. Keypads get a
beating as people express their opinions over the demolition of
the St. Peter's Church of the Anglicans at 1:00 A.M. on July 13,
2006 at Sabangan, Mountain Province.
-Improvement of the Sabangan to Cervantes, Ilocos Sur road is
also on the drawing board.
-Improvement of the
Cervantes, Ilocos Sur to Mankayan and on to Abatan, Benguet road
will also commence in 2007.
-100 visitors to Mountain Province are expected from Aurora
Province. Aurora and Mountain Province will establish
sister province ties. The visit will be on July 28 to 29,
2006.
-Mount Data Hotel is now
operated by the provincial government of Mountain Province.
Rates are lower starting at 900 pesos.
-A new commercial building will rise below the Provincial plaza
in Bontoc, Mountain Province.
-Most Rev. Rodolfo Fontiveros Beltran is the new bishop of the
Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe.
-Governor determined to protect Mt. Data park orders Environment
and Natural Resource Office to keep tight watch.
