One of the many Black Arts in tuning set-ups for GT3 is that of dialing in Camber. This can take hours as you tweak ... test ... tweak ..test ad infinitum.

The effects of Camber in the game are noticeable but not massively significant compared to something like Damper tuning for example and the code seems to apply it's affects at lesser values than those that are pefectly normal on real world race cars - so why you can adjust the Camber way up to 12 is totally beyond me icon4.gif.

After several months of experimenting, I've reached the conclusion that Camber is proportional to roll resistance in GT3 (rather than inversely proportional which is how I think it works out in the world) with a ratio of Camber value to Roll Stiffness of about 0.2 for the Front. Given that assumption, it is therefore possible to simply calculate what Camber value to put on a suspension without having to endlessly test:

Sum the total of Spring Rate and Stabaliser for the Front end of the car and either divide by 5 or multiply by 0.2 (whichever is easiest for you to do).

For an FR/MR drivetrain, the proportion of Front to Rear Camber that seems to work best in general terms is 3/2, so once you've worked out the Front Camber you can deduce what to put on the Rear merely by working out what 2/3s of the Front value is e.g. if the Front is 3, then the Rear is 2 or if the Front is 2.8 then the Rear is 1.9.

As always with tuning, adjusting one thing affects another more often than not and you might find that the above ratio makes a car understeer too much for your tastes. If this is so, then usually a small alteration to the Dampers can correct matters.

If it doesn't then, I'm afraid, it's back to tweak and test icon1.gif.
