WELCOME
Welcome to MME Movements,
an unofficial website devoted to Durham Tees Valley
Airport! This website is directed towards the general
public
using the airport every day, who would like to gain an insight into the
running of the airport.
Well the Summer 2007 season has started, and in May we will see the start
of the holiday flights to warm, sunny destinations
dotted around
Europe! For more information see the Destinations page, linked at the top!
WHAT'S HAPPENING NEXT?
March 31st saw the start of the summer flights by
FlyGlobespan
to 4 European
destinations (Alicante, Faro, Malaga, Palma) and we are
looking
forward to another 5 starting with the addition of a 2nd based aircraft
near the end of June! These additional 5 are Ibiza
(starts 25th May), Jersey
(starts 30th June), Mahon (starts 30th June), Nice (starts 1st July), Pula
(starts 28th June).
In July we welcome another new operator to the airport,
Wizz Air,
who start flying from Durham Tees Valley to Warsaw, 3x a
week from 28th July!
2006
Was a record year for the airport, with 906792 passengers passing through
during the year! This is over 6000 more than in 2005,
and shows just
how well the airport coped considering the loss of bmibaby in October.
October also saw business airline
Eastern Airways
start a new route to
Brussels, capital of Belgium! This route is flown twice
a day, Monday to
Friday, and we are expecting it to be a popular city break destination
year round!
2006 also saw an increase in the amount of freight flown into and out of
the airport, and this is mostly down to resident freight
operator
TNT
Express
who run a service to and
from Liege via Hannover, TNT's main European base.
Durham Tees Valley also serves as TNT's European
maintenance base for it's BAe 146 fleet!
