| Airfix
WW2 Russian Infantry
Back
in 2001 Airfix re-released these figures after a long absence from shelves.
The
level of detail on the figures is not up to today's standards, and they
do not lend themselves to wargame standard paint jobs using drybrushing
or staining techniques.
Unless
you are a sucker for old sets (which I unfortunately am), then you will
be fairly disappointed if you are expecting something on a par with the
level of detail in sets of Russian infantry by Revel and Esci.
.
A comparison
below with some Russian commanders from other sets, some of which have
temporary card paper painting stands and partially finished paint jobs.
From left to right - Airfix Russian Infantry, Esci Russian Infantry, Revell
Russian Infantry, and Revell Siberian Rifles.
Sculptors
seem to portray all Russian commanders pointlessly shooting their pistols
in the air ............ I'd have guessed they'd have been more concerned
with aiming at the enemy.
