The Repainters Resource! - The Complete Repaint Walkthrough - Equipment required

To finish the actual repaint we'll have a quick look at the wings. Although there are 4 separate wing textures I'll just show you one for the purpose of this tutorial.

This particular paintkit has actually included some weather for us on the wing so there isn't much to do here.

However most of the techniques you have used from the fuselage you can use here, because of this I'll just show a couple of the the things I have added that may be of interest.

Control surfaces are one of the main areas that collect grime, the following shows a quick example of grime added to one of the ailerons.

Select the Brush Tool (B), set the active colour to black and your brush size to 1 pixel.

Add a new layer and draw lines along the aileron join.

Select the Smudge Tool (R) and set your brush size to approximately 5 pixels.

Just like the fuselage and tail, black the cursor on one of the black lines, click and hold the mouse button.

Drag the cursor in the opposite direction to travel, in this case down. Repeat this process a few times, go over some of the areas again to achieve a good random look.

Set the layer opacity to around 15% and you're all set.

To finish this section we'll add a little bit of dirt to a section of the panel lines.

Select the Brush Tool (B), set your active colour to black and your brush size to 1 pixel once again.

Draw along a small section of the panel line.

Select the Smudge Tool (R) and set your brush size to approximately 5 pixels.

Place the cursor over one of the lines, move the cursor in sweeping motions, while holding the mouse button, across the panel lines.

For more detailed bits, drag the cursor slower and in a more accurate fashion.

Set the layer opacity to about 10% and you're all set.

This concludes the weathering section of The Complete Repaint Walkthrough and indeed the repainting part of the tutorial. This section was designed to teach you different techniques which you can modify to create your own personal touch to your repaints.

We'll now move on to creating the alpha channel.
