Saturday February 10th
Venue: Glyn Coed School
Mud! Mud and more Mud!
We had a little rain this morning! Then we had a little more and then quite a lot! Nevertheless, the lads battled heroically and the supporters were as hardy as ever! We're thinking of hiring the Millennium Stadium next season so we can close the roof and have less mud! Failing that, we'd better chip in to buy Hassan's mum a pair of wellies!
Your intrepid photographer had troubles too! The camera batteries went flat.....but I used the "leave it off for a few minutes and it'll be alright" procedure and things worked out fine! Anyway.......on with the report!!
The first game against Llanrumney YC was a very closely contested affair with the Eagles going down by the odd goal. The second half saw 100% pressure from our heroes but the opposing keeper played a blinder! Never mind because the second game saw a fantastic 2-1 victory over Pentwyn B in increasingly difficult conditions! Some stalwart defending and inspired attacking saw us through! The lads were freezing by the end of this great game but manfully turned out for the last encounter against Pentwyn A in indescribably bad weather! The pitch was awful and the goalmouth Jonathan had to defend in the first half resembled a lake! He was absolutely soaked to the skin and a tad cold so Declan took over from him for the second half. We narrowly lost 3-2 but the lads showed real character to keep plugging away to the end! Let's hope for better weather next weekend!
