Saturday April 21st Venue: Willows High School School The Eagles Return! |

What a splendid morning! I even wore sunglasses! The lads were raring to go and started warming up on a pitch with a lovely close cut surface! At last, we thought, a pitch on which we could display those close ball skills! Unfortunately, that pitch was bagged by another age group and we were directed to two other pitches across the field. These pitches weren't quite so good! Nevertheless the enthusiasm of our Eagle heroes remained undimmed and set about the games with much gusto! The first game saw us play a very strong Splott Albion side but the lads battled away to the end only losing 1-0 and Aeron hit the post with a strong shot from left hand side. The lads learned about "packing the box" and did it well for most of the game! But the best was to come! The next game saw two cracking James goals which helped us defeat Thornhill 2-0. Thornhill had a couple of sneaky goal hangers but they were dealt with well by our defence and victory was well deserved. The last game saw a wonderfully competitive match against Lisvane A and we emerged victorious once again with a 3-2 result. James again was on target twice and Ross contributed with a classic header at the far post. Lisvane came back strongly towards the end and after they came back from 3-1 we really needed to defend strongly. However, the lads did it and our hardy band of supporters cheered in delight! March 31st is now a distant memory! |
