The much awaited new season is upon us! The lads and crew made the short trek to Pontcanna to play their first eleven-a-side league game with Urdd, the opponents. The first rain for over month may have slightly softened the pitches but the pundits on the side still reckon it's going to be a hard pitch!
The first half proved a frenetic affair with very little time on the ball for either side. Aaron almost broke the deadlock with a fine shot which hit the post in the first ten minutes. Mid-way through the half Aaron burst through and went around the keeper. However, just as he was about to score his legs were taken away from him by the keeper.
The referee rightly gave the penalty but strangely didn't send the keeper off. Hassan dispatched the penalty to give the lads a 1-0 lead. The lead was held almost to half time but Urdd equalised in the last minuteof the first half.  A rash of substitutions saw the managers use every squad member but such is the strength in depth that there was no change in quality. After five minutes of the half the lads deservedly took the lead when Niall's shot was parried 2 handed by a covering defender resulting in a second penalty scored by Niall himself. Again no sending off but things were looking good for the lads. From this moment the game looked to be up for Urdd and almost all of the play now took place in the front third of the field, further goals by Joey, Aaron and 2 by Mike were no surprise and so the lads finished 6- 1 victors!
