Living History Day was organised to provide an opportunity for the town to celebrate its past and present. Many organisations and businesses took part providing static displays and also refreshments. There was a magnificent organ in Church Square, together with a display of vintage vehicles. Shops had special window displays and a number took part in the "odd one out" competition where shoppers had to identify objects that didn't belong to the particular shops. The day ended with the presentation of prizes to the winners of the youngsters' Poster Competition, and the switching on of the Christmas Tree lights.
