"Our Story"

Who would understand this?
I`m not sure who might,
but someone out there may,
if I tell our story right.

We love each other he and I
just like in "our song"
truly, madly, deeply,
together we belong.

But sadly we cannot be,
and oh, how we have cried,
knowing we will never be
by each others side.

We don`t talk to each other
but the love we have is such,
that our souls and hearts will never part
they will always be in touch.

I feel his pain from far away
just as he feels mine,
It could have been so different
but this was not our time.

In peaceful, quiet moments,
clear in my minds eye
I see his very last words to me
"I will love you till I die"

Once when I was hurting,
I thought those words untrue
but now I know they are the truth
and I feel the same way too.

Things beyond our control
forced us to stay apart,
but our love lives on forever
inside each others heart.
