"A Walk Along The Shore"

I walk in the twilight
along a sandy shore
and remember thoughts I had
when I was here before

in those days of sunshine
under skies of blue
I would gaze at the ocean
that would carry me to you

rays from the sunshine
seemed to lay a path for me
of illuminated silver shimmer
across the deep green sea

as if I could just walk to you
waiting at the other side
and waters that kept us apart
weren`t really all that wide

I would close my eyes
let my mind just drift away
allowing me to be there with you
every single day.

but now I walk a different path
on a different shore
A colder darker place
because I don`t have you anymore

The sea looks murky brown
the sky a dull cold grey
the sparkling path that led to you
has now been washed away

and just as the tide
leaves it`s prints upon the shore
you left your print in my heart
where it stays forever more.
