"Distant Shores"

I stand here on my island
my love on a distant shore
I cannot see or touch him
cannot hold him anymore.

I know he is still there..
do tears bead in his eyes?
does he grieve like me?
and hear my distant sighs.

Lonely is my island
no boat to carry me
over deep blue waters
my love again to see.

No rescuers to save
this poor marooned heart
the ship that carried us
sank and fell apart.

I look up to the stars
that twinkle in the sky
and wonder if he see`s them too
and if they make him cry.

Taken from each other
soulmates now destroyed
by lifes events and hardships
that we could not avoid.

cruelly we are destined to live
on sad and separate shores
silent tears, missing each other..
grieving forever more....
