"I`m So Sorry I Let You Down"

How do I begin
to say how sorry I am
without you believing
that i don`t give a dam?

I don`t know how to do this,
where to start
how to tell you
that once again
I have to break you`re heart.

you offered me love
unconditional and real
but I`m lost inside
and don`t know how to feel

I wished, I really did
and I tried, so very hard
to love you back
but my heart is marred.

the honour that you
on me bestow
with your heart and soul
is more pure than any other
that I will ever know.

A precious gift,
but I cannot accept
it would be wrong
because my love to you
is never going to belong

I thought that maybe
one day it could
but realised very quickly
that it never would.

Please forgive me
the last thing I want to do
is hurt someone
as wonderful as you.

You even accepted
that I still loved someone from my past
you said you didn`t care
that even so your love would last

you said you would give me time,
that you could forever wait
if I were to abuse such trust
your love would turn to hate.

I do not have the answers
cannot tell you why
I can`t return your deep love
even though I try

It takes a higher power
to make it understood
why and who we love
even if it`s bad or good

You love me so much
and I thankyou for this
but I cannot take it from you
can`t return your kiss.

I will always care for you
always be around
please...god and you forgive me
I`m so sorry I let you down.
