10/25/03:
Money Can't Buy Concert

Chart star Kylie Minogue is to play a free, one-off spectacular show to launch her new album, it was announced.

The star, who normally plays arenas, is taking a leaf out of Madonna's book by playing a London theatre with the show which has taken months to prepare.

Around 4,000 fans will see the sexy singer as she plays her Money Can't Buy concert at the Carling Apollo in Hammersmith, west London on November 15.

Kylie has devised the show which will showcase songs from her new album Body Language which is released two days later. She will also play several of her old favourites.

Madonna became one of the hottest tickets in London in 2000 when she played a small show at Brixton Academy.

The concert is also to be broadcast by ITV1 just days later, as well as being streamed live on the internet by AOL.

Tickets are going to be distributed to winners of competitions organised by radio stations, publications and AOL, as well as invited guests.

Her last London show was in May 2002, part of a four-night sold out run at the Wembley Arena during the Fever tour which saw her play to a quarter of a million people.

The last time she played the Apollo she sold out seven nights.

A spokesman for Kylie said: "This show is a rare opportunity to see a huge spectacular, for which Kylie has become renowned, in an intimate venue."

Kylie worked with creative director William Baker and art director Alan Macdonald for the Money Can't Buy show, both of whom worked on the 2002 Fever tour.

It will have themed segments echoing the music, although they are being kept under wraps.

She will perform with a band and 12 dancers, with choreography dreamed up by Michael Rooney who worked on her Can't Get You Out Of My Head video.

Kylie will be performing with her band and 12 dancers.

Speaking about the music, Kylie said it will contain "something old, something new, something borrowed - and some great surprises".

It will be the first opportunity to hear most of the songs from the album, although she releases a single Slow on November 3.

Kylie Cover Up Shock

Kylie Minogue is set to be involved in a shock cover up - of her own backside.

The Aussie pop sensation is as famous for her perfect posterior as her chart topping tracks.

But having reached the ripe old age of 35, Kylie says she feels less comfortable flashing her flesh.

And the video for her new single, Slow, shows she is serious about hanging up her hotpants.

Unlike her memorable outfits in the video for number one hit Spinning Around, Kylie's get up is rather more conservative and there are no cheeky shots of her rear.

Kylie told The Sun: "I'm a 35-year-old woman. I kept everything covered in my video. It's quite tame compared to music TV these nowadays."

But Kylie does not feel covering up will see her lose out to younger pop rivals Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears - both still more than willing to bare as much as they can get away with.

"There's always competition and it doesn't worry me. They are free to strip down if they want," Kylie said.

The singer will launch her new album Body Language on November 15 with a concert in Hammersmith, west London.
